S1 with negative pressure in the case and with the PCI cover removed under the graphics card would work great I think. Similar to my setup. The S1 is huge and you don't need much airflow. Ok the S1 sounds good then. I was just wondering what temperatures you get with having that soundcard right up ...

S1 or HR-03 with a PCI Card
I want to install a fanless graphics card. But I want to also install a PCI card which is going to be a problem with my motherboard. I am tempted to just get a 4670 ultimate by Sapphire as that will block none of the slots. Here is my motherboard: http://www.hardwarezone.com.my/img/data/articles/200...

I believe you could build a decent mid range gaming PC (think 250 GTS) in this case with a pico PSU and an external power brick like a dell DA-2. If only silverstone could sell a version of this case without the SFX PSU, and drop the price because of it, then you could build a very quiet and very ca...

there is no way to minimize power so that it may behave like on battery. That is not true. Try and look in the control pannel at "power Options". Click on "change plan settings" and you can choose the CPU speed. I expect there is 2 options, one for on battery and one for wall power. I would expect ...

You should swap the Zen PSU for a PICO and you should see a drop in power consuption of about 10W. CPU temps are ok. Temperatures will nee...

Re: Acer Timeline 3810T
Even though, there is no difference in temperature on power or battery This doesnt make sence. When the fan comes on, I would expect the temperatures to drop. Try use vista or win7 power options to configure how it behaves. For example, usually I would expect battery to = max power savings, and wal...

The relay is not a bad idea, but you'd need an override to turn the computer on at a cold start. Or a (2 pole?) momantary swtich to activate the DA-2 and start up the PC at the same time. I assume a regular start button is used to simply provide a momentary shorting out of 2 pins on the motherboard...

All you need is a switch to disconnect pin 5 from ground and the DA-2 will go into standby and no longer be supplying 12v. It would be good if it does that automatically. For example, how about a 12v relay powered by a molex connector that can keep the DA-2 powered on when the PC is on. But then wh...

Won't that be feeding 12v into the CPU constantly? Doesn't that cause power to be wasted?Taxidermista wrote:The Dell brick has three +12V lines, I took 2 of them directly to the 4-pin 12V ATX connector on the motherboard...

Take a look at the silvertone 450w fanless model. http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1711.html Nexus Value PSU seems like the best fan cooled PSU for your needs. Do you know your PC's power usage? It's probably no more than 200w under load? Maybe even the 350w fanless PSU like the silvertone o...

Did I miss something in these specifications or would trying to use a 150 W power brick literally just "brick" the PicoPSU 150? Yes I think everyone is getting the wrong end of the stick. A 150w PSU means you can draw 150w from it. Not 96w, but it should do 150w continuous. The reason they say 8 am...

Samsung NC10 is silent after all
Just a heads up it seems that the samsung nc10 has a silent, fanless mode according to http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4728.
If you were looking to get a dell mini 9 or 10 for fanless operation, you can now give the nc10 a look too.

An inverter turns DC into AC to drive the backlight. Mains is already AC you just need a transformer to step the voltage up or down to the voltage you need. Otherwise it will be going AC input >> DC PSU (built into monitor) >> inverter >> AC output to backlight. Better would be AC input >> Transform...

Actually, it's the (DC>AC) inverter that powers the CCFL that makes the noise. LED units work directly off DC and do not require inverters, so will not suffer from the squealing noise. If that is true then just buy a monitor that runs off mains AC voltage instead of off a DC power brick. Unless the...

Also look into right angled SATA cables. I use 5 SATA cables so right angled SATA cables can't be used. Ok but 4770 has modest power consumption so you may just need to clip some heatsink fins off to allow access to the SATA connectors. Worst case is you will need a large, slow moving fan on them a...
