DrDooM , I placed the components (Jetway NC81-LF / Scythe SCSK-1000 Shuriken / Athlon 4850e / 4GB) temporarily inside Antec NSK1480. I was not too pleased with the temps (and the noise!) in Psile, not even with two 60mm rear exhaust fans. Now (with NSK1480) the temps are CPU 53C, System 58C at load...

Nice pictures, gtquan! I have a Psile with Jetway NC81-LF and Scythe SCSK-1000 Shuriken. Proper exhaust fans are certainly a must, without them temps (both CPU and system) reach almost 60C! Thus, Shuriken alone is not a good choice: warm air stays inside the case (as the air moves downward, not rear...

Finnish, English, Swedish, Hebrew, Estonian, Arabic, German, Greek, Norwegian, Danish... I first studied the Semitic languages as my major (Hebrew, Arabic), then I changed it to Finnish (Finnish, Estonian). I once counted 34 languages/dialects, in which I have at least learned the basic grammer. I m...

I just finished installing Ubuntu 7.10 and tried "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" (vesa installation) again. This time everything went smoothly, and have to assume that my previous problems with Ubuntu were caused by lack of knowledge. :( At 1280x1024 things look nice so far. No Compiz Fusion 3D...

dougz I will wait for Ubuntu 7.10 (only two more days!). The problem I encountered with Ubuntu was some minor screen distortion with VESA driver. Actually "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" sort of worked (the driver was installed), but... Some more Linux nostalgy. I attended the University of Hel...

dougz Ubuntu was my first call. For some reason "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" did not work for me. Mandriva is ok, though I am really pissed because Finland is not listed as a choice in county list for localization (in Mandriva 2008.0). After all, is Finland not the place were Linux was born ...

I spent quite a lot of time configuring my D201GLY based web server to work with sis662 driver. No luck whatsoever. Xorg's VESA: For some reason VESA solution works only with Fedora and Mandriva. (I tried my luck with OpenSuse and Ubuntu, but ended up with problems.) Both were easy to install. After...

VESA driver (X.org) is working fine at least at 1280 x 1024 with Mandriva (2008.0) and Fedora Core 7. No screen distortions - and no 3D acceleration, though. There are some links to old Intel drivers here: http://www.2x.com/forums/index.php (in "2X ThinClientServer"). Google "sis 662 Ubuntu" for more.

D201GLY uses northbridge heat sink for CPU. It think some socket 479 (478) boards use the same method, too. And the mounting brackets must be for hooks, not for push-pin holes. (As far as I know, these are the two options for mounting the northbridge heat sinks). I'm using Noctua NC-U6 northbrige he...

I replaced the stock heat sink with Noctua NC-U6 and it fits nice. With 8 mm fan (Nexus, 1600 rpm) the system is silent enough compared to noisy stock fan (4400 rpm). CPU temp also dropped about 5 degrees C. There is sufficiently space in Nexus Psile mini-ITX case for NC-U6. By the way, I bought my ...
