Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread
Well, I just ordered an Asus ROG Strix 1060GTX 6GB... will be $244.99 when I get my MIR back. I was really attracted to the sexy laser-cut aluminum backplate, lol. And it looks like a stealth fighter. So I guess I paid more because it looks cool.

As for tower, can you recommend me a full tower as well? The R5 is an amazing case- I'm not sure you'd need something bigger. I just bought one; they are on sale right now at Newegg for $79.99 free shipping for the R5 Blackout silent. You have many options for configuration, but let's break it down...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread
Gigabyte 1060 6GB, $220.24 shipped after discounts I believe that model is equal to the Palit GTX 1060 Dual, which I happen to own. I would recommend against it for the noise conscious user - with a moderate overclock, mine hits a fan RPM of ~2k and reaches the high 70's (Celcius, of course) during...

Right now I am seriously considering the following cards: ASUS STRIX 1060 6GB, $245 shipped after discounts and rebates Gigabyte 1060 6GB, $220.24 shipped after discounts Do you think the STRIX is worth the extra money? Looks slick, and supposedly it's made of higher quality parts? I would love to O...

Re: Current state of fan (brands)
This is a good post because so much of the market has changed in the last 4 years making some of the content outdated. Question related to fans and fan control. I am looking at this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128869 It has a CPU fan header that is 4-pin, th...

Re: Intel Core i7-6700: Skylake i7 at 65W
With steady price decreases to CPU ($295), motherboards, and DDR4 memory, the i7-6700 is the best value in i7s now without a doubt.
The only real question is if the price premium for i7 is worth paying over say the i5-6600k which is about $75 cheaper as of right now.

Re: Intel Core i3-2100T & Core i5-2400S Low Power CPUs
It might be just me, but it seems a little dissapointing that the best solution in many tests was a standard i5-2400 that was undervolted. I am running this setup right now and I appreciate the performance. It's mind boggling how low the idle temps/power is now. I can't really see anything that thes...

Take paracematol/acetaminophen for instance which I guess most of you have used. Thousands of people die every year as a direct consequence of abusing this drug. The non-lethal effects and indirect fatalities are probably unknown. Can any of you tell me what harmful and lethal doses are as a functi...

My proposal is dispensaries. I have no doubt in my mind that according to the current drug laws, alcohol should be illegal- there is a large body of evidence backing this up. I am also a firm believer that if Cocaine (among others) became legal, restricted (age and availability), taxed and NOT CUT/...

I read the whole article about the harms of alcohol. Seems pretty silly to me, and here's why: "Overall, alcohol is the most harmful drug because it's so widely used." "Crack cocaine is more addictive than alcohol but because alcohol is so widely used there are hundreds of thousands of people who cr...

Re: feedback on mid-range micro-atx build
How much clearance do you anticipate having for the CPU cooler? That's going to be the biggest factor in determining which one to go with.
The i5-2500k isn't exactly made of molten lava, so you could possibly go with something a little smaller and still have acceptable results.

I am shocked at the inconsistencies. I'm not trying to propagate any conspiracy theories, but there is a big difference between what was initially reported, to what president Obama said, to what was reported later, and later spoken by officials. Seems like the story keeps changing. I'm not sure who'...

I heard they attempted to capture him and that he resisted, and was killed. According to the BBC article I read, anyway. This is good news I think. I do agree that a fair trial would be the ideal situation. He has confessed in numerous statements his guilt with involvement with the 9/11 terrorist at...

You are right. I just bought a Samsung F3 for my parents- it's super loud, by my standards. It's not seek noise it's the idle noise- a pervasive metallic ringing noise that I've seen on some 7200 rpm drives. Would not recommend.

The Gigabyte 460 SOC, thanks to the cooler it's fitted with, is one of the quietest of the 460s - see this review at http://www.guru3d.com/article/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-460-soc-review/8 . And despite being overclocked load temps are only in the mid 60s. In performance terms, it seems to be as good a...

Re: Silent gaming PC - suggestions?
My suggestions: Depends on what video card you go with, But I would get a Seasonic "Fan-cooled" power supply. I know the fanless work pretty good but the fan-cooled one I think will be better overall for a system making that much heat. The fan will be overshadowed by the GPU fan easily. I would go w...

My opinion: the Crucial C300 is the way to go. Faster than intel, durable, decent price. The intel models you were talking about just look too slow. If I'm going with SSD, I need some speed!
Still waiting for the magic price though: I want a 96GB SSD for $100. It will be awhile.

Re: low draw, disable PSU fan Corsair
That's an interesting idea. I'll ask. What do typical pc's that are not overclocked and not SLI draw? That's kind of broad. For example. A 6-core AMD CPU, 2 hard drives, nVidia GTX 580 would draw 200+ at idle and 500+ on load. Not overclocked. A Quad Core i7, HD 6970 system would probably draw 150W...

Seems pretty awesome. I wonder how the efficiency is at 45W ?
Edit- found the review. 77% at 45 W. 80% at 60W. 90% at 160W.
If only the 560W or even lower had a promo code. I can't find any additional info on this.
