Re: Do I even need an exhaust fan? - Corsair 650D pos. press
I got my 4.6GHz stable overclock as well, with decent temps (peaked at 65C with a vcore of 1.408v). The TY-150 (CPU fan) mostly hovers around 800 RPM at 20C ambient at full Prime95 load. Sometimes it goes up past 820 RPM. Very quiet system. I ran IntelBurnTest as well to test max temps, and I peaked...

Re: Do I even need an exhaust fan? - Corsair 650D pos. press
It's working out great! I have a work log at the overclock.net forums, and I am currently doing the whole overclocking thing. Still only using the onboard GPU, but I can pretty safely say the positive pressure thing without exhaust fans can work really well. I have a stable 4.5GHz overclock, where t...

Re: Do I even need an exhaust fan? - Corsair 650D pos. press
After more reading, I am indeed going to try without exhaust fan, but will add another intake fan in the 5.25" bay:

Do I even need an exhaust fan? - Corsair 650D pos. pressure
UPDATE: No I don't need an exhaust fan  As the title says, do I even need an exhaust fan in a decent positive pressure system, as long as metal grills are cut? Currently working on a Corsair 650D (case pics) for a new positive pressure build (overclocked Sandy Bridge i5-2500K). Measuring a...

Re: Corsair 600T review
Temps are very, very good with the pictured configuration. Note that I do use the built-in fan controller hooked up to front and rear fans, and I turn it up when gaming or doing furmark+prime95 tests. But my furmark+prime95 results are quite good, only hitting 83c video and 75c CPU under what I con...

Re: Corsair 600T review
Nice. :) I am doing something similar with my Corsair 650D. Cutting grills and such too and adding the foam. I'll be going for a Coolermaster Megaflow in front since I don't need the HDD bays at all (just putting an SSD in the 5.25" bays). For the rear I was almost gonna buy the same Noctua, but I w...

Re: Best 200mm fan on the market (Airflow/Noise)
After some more research, it looks like I can just keep the Corsair fans. The noise issues stem from a conflict between the blade design on the corsair fan in front and the proximity of the metal mesh. Solutions are either to change the fan to something like the megaflow, make a shroud or a spacer t...

Re: Best 200mm fan on the market (Airflow/Noise)
Thanks for the reply. :) The PC isn't built yet (waiting until november), but I am sure about the case as it has the features I want. Most reviews say the fans are noisy though, hence this thread. :) As I mentioned, it's for gaming (and other not so heat-generating tasks), with an overclocked CPU (i...

Best 200mm fan on the market (Airflow/Noise)
I am looking for a replacement for the front 200mm fan for the Corsair 650D case. I am not limited by the 20mm thickness of the Corsair fan, because I only need one of the two HD bays (for 2-3 SSDs), as shown on the first picture below. PWM is nice but definitely not a must. So far the lineup is: Co...

Just a quick update: I went for a full refund on the Modu82+ instead of a replacement, and got a Corsair HX620 instead. Everything works fine in the PC, so the Modu82+ only blew out the primary side it appears, and protected the components. That's something at least. :) Noisewise I don't really hear...

Hello, In your other post, you mentioned a power outage had caused the failure -- it is only fair to mention it here, as well. Nono, the PSU caused the power outage in the apartment, not the other way around. I guess power outage isn't really the right word for it though, because the power was stil...

Up until my Modu82+ 625W died on me last night after only three days, I was very happy with the noise levels. I basically couldn't hear it, even when I had my system under load. I didn't put my ear right up against it while it was running, but from 50 cm it was pretty much silent, and that was with ...

Are you using a surge protector or UPS? Nope. The power is usually very clean and stable here in Denmark, so no need. All the other electric devices attached at the time of the death were fine. I think it's the PSU that caused my fuse to blow, and not bad current from the outside. Edit: Just make i...

Enermax Modu82+ 625W died on me. :(
I got my Modu82+ 625W this tuesday and plugged it into my waiting system and it worked just great. Pretty much inaudible. Then last night at 4 am, as I was running an overnight session of memtest86, the power went because a fuse blew. After changing a fuse I found out I couldn't restart the PC, and ...

Even when watercooling the entire chipset (northbridge, southbridge, mosfets, cpu) and the RAM, GPU and HD, there are still parts of the mobo that would run hot and would require at least a little airflow. Unless you're overclocking, I wouldn't really bother with watercooling just for the cooling it...

I just bought two Samsung HD753LJ disks, and I am considering running them in Raid 1 on the onboard intel raid controller. However, I have a couple of questions: Would gaming performance be roughly the same as single HD or worse? In the unlikely event I run out of space, how easy is it to drop the r...

One other thing to consider is the capillary effect. Oil will travel up wires inside their insulation. This means it will eventually get into the harddisk, monitor, keyboard and mouse (if not cordless), unless the part of the wires and cables under oil are completely oil-proof. It can be stopped by ...

PSU for ~400W @ full load.
Any newer PSU's that can beat the Corsair HX620 for silence (and efficiency) at around 400W draw at full load? I was looking at the Corsair TX750, since it has a bigger fan and 85% efficiency in the 4-500W range, but from reviews it looks like the HX620 is quieter.

If a PC's peak load is 300W and its nominal desktop power usage is 100W, then that 1,000W PSU is going to spend most of its time (desktop) wasting power and creating more heat than is necessary - and will usually be noisier because of that. Yes of course the entire range, from idle to max load, has...

Price aside, buying a PSU that only delivers *just* enough juice is rarely optimal. For silence, we'll want the PSU to run unstrained and cool, and that is partly based on effiency (there are certainly other factors too). If the efficiency of this PSU is better than others at a given watt, then it's...

Anyone have an idea what the TDP is for the different components on the X38 chipset? NB, SB, Mosfets and such. Even a ballpark estimate is helpfull.
