Sorry, I meant a Pentium E5200. This staggered spin-up looks promising, but I don't think the DG45FC has the best bios. But If all else fails I can just do some voodoo hacks multi PSU setup that uses a more powerful PSU for the first 10 seconds right? Might take some trickery and lots of wiring thou...

HDD power consuimption

If SPCR tested HDDs to consume somewhere around 10W or less why do PSU calculators add somewhere around 25W per drive?

I _can_ run 3 HDDS with a E6500 and a DG45FC off a PicoPSU right?

Replacing my Antec tpq 850

Hi, My computer produces quite a bit heat with an e6850 and 8800GT SLI passive as the main hardware I originally got the power supply real cheap, and have learned why I should never buy something not on the SPCR recommended list. My main concerns is my power bill and secondly the heat. Using the PSU...

nice cooler. I have a couple question. For to Orochi to fit, it dependson Case and Mobo right?

also. Does hte Orochi extend over the motherboard anywhere? mainly the top?

My case has the mobo right up against the wall of the case so a TRUE will only fit in one orientation. thanks.

scdr: anything with coils can exhibit coil whine i guess. So this can be add-on cards or the motherboard. nei: i'll add the air passing through grills issue, and as for the case noises, true, but when identifying the issue at hand, it is good to know that the noise is coming from the noise. i'll add...

alright, i've included the case expansion/contraction due to heat issue. As for the PSU issue, i'm going to assume it is coil whine unless some people with better knowledge of PSUs can attribute this noise to elsewhere. As for monitors, i'm not going to include there, becuase then there are other is...

List of noise creating components in a computer

there's a small list in the FAQs thought we could expand on it and make a more thorough list. I've made a small list of computer parts, and what noises they emit Case (noises are caused by other components) Resonance Rattles from loose parts (IE loose PCI covers) expansion/contraction of metals due ...

i don't think it's speed that you should be worried about. it should be more of a CFM issue. This is all what i think should happen so correct me if i'm wrong: You want all the air that's being pushed out of the TRUE to be pushed out of the case. So, if your CPU Fan is too powerful, your exhaust can...

So I just measured the distance from the divider to the CPU socket, It came out to be about 5.5cm. This would mean if the cooler is symmetric about the horizontal axis when installed, it can be no bigger than 110mm. And what do you know, that's the exact width of a scythe ninja. unfortunately, i can...

i'm sure quad 9800 SLI with HR 03s or S1s and an array of 100 2.5" drives would need 1kw or something. and still be quiet.

CPU cooler that does not extend over the motherboard

I have a lian li pc v2000b with an inverted Abit in9-32x max motherboard. With the position of the LGA775 socket, a my TRU can only be installed with the long side parallel with the ground or else it will hit the divider in the case. Thus the 120mm exhaust isn't pulling all its air through the coole...

don't take what i say as the absolute truth, but: i read that turning on and off drives repeatedly can be detrimental to the disk's health. i don't believe this, and if i lost 1 month of my drive's total life then i don't mind. i mean, there's a 5 year warranty for a reason. but then again, every pi...
