Hi guys! The answer I would like to learn is: could that MSi or any other non Intel board be undervolted so that it falls below the Intel reference board? And I don't mean the CPU voltages. Rather voltages for memory, chipset and other stuff. Can any one try and see how much lower than his current s...

Thanks for your answer!

Have you tried lowering the voltages on the mobo not concerning CPU?
I remember saving quite a bit on may Gigabyte G43 that way!

Intel DH55TC vs. MSI H55M-E33 for lowest power consumption?

Hi guys! I would appreciate any help you could offer on this matter! I am not set on these two boards, and am opened to other suggestions. :) The mobos are indended for a NAS server, I will build in the near future. I see these two boards have the lowest power consumption! Intel having a slight adva...

I think "G" is like 22W TDP and "GM" just 7W.
My guess manufacturers just put a fan/big heatsink according to specs not really caring if it's to much--- as long as it isn't to little.

I have a 3ware raid controller 9650SE with 8ports and it uses ~10W in all my tests

And my basis with old 80GB hdd and G33 + E8200 @2GHz, 4GB ram uses ~42W idle and undervolted to 0.975

So altogether they use ~53W with a pico.
On a regular PSU together they draw ~64.

Intel E7200 -undervolted
Gigabyte G33M-S2H mobo with hdmi
2x2gb ram
1x500GB GP drive from WD
2x1TB GP drives from WD (that you put to sleep when idle).
Blue-Ray optical drive
a case from omaura.com
and a PICO-Psu 120W

That should be about <50W idle, <40W with sleeping storage hdd's

0.8125 V set in BIOS
Is a great voltage.
I have 8200 and mine won't get below 0.975v in bios.

I'll have to find my measurements of consumption, but I remember them being similar to your deltas.

Well I plan on hooking it up to a Pico-PSU for low power. So I may run into the problem. Cool graph, BTW! Anyway, I know that it should work in staggered mode in boot up as well. My system disk is on the mobo controller, only the array is on 3ware. The question is why won't it work that way: sata po...

Staggered spinup on WD GP drives on cold start

I have a 3ware 9650SE controller and 4 wd1000fyps drives. I'm trying to make this staggered spinup thing work when cold starting the system. But no matter how I connected them on my 3ware controller the drives startup all at once. The thing is, in windows, after the drives fall asleep and you activa...

Ok if I understood you correctly yoe are saying that most SATA connectors through pin 11 should power up the drives sa soon as connected to power. That doesn't happen here as the drives can stay with power conncted and not spinning up at all. They only spin up when I connect data cable to them. I wi...

Thanks for posting guys. You are right I noticed those weak 5v currents on 200W Pico definetly a weak spot for this unit. I've found this info on this forum: Q: spinup currents? A: Spinup: 2.4A(peek)@12V, 781mA@5V => 32,71W Read/Write: 470mA@12V, 875mA@5V => 10,02W Seek: 750mA@12V, 969mA@5V => 13,84...

Pico Psu PW-200-M and a lot of GP drives?

I currently own a 120W version and I remember when I played around with it that I managed to power up a low power config and 4x3.5" regular old school HDDs. Being that PW-200-M Pico is 200W capable how many of the new GP drives do you guys think this one can handle? One more thing if I try and over ...

OK. So I pulled the Pico from my current fileserver and hooked it up to this setup. The result was pretty damn good: ~20% less draw across the board. In idle it is now fluctuating around 42W and loads were 47W I'm still using an old HDD at this time that can't seem to be idle completely, but the pow...
