Well... thanks for the links (which should have been more obvious ressources for me earlier already). I'll have a look anyway when I'm opening the case again, how the fans are mounted, I suppose some rattling at least is coming from an undamped mounting. I'm coming to the conclusion, that the only w...

Actually why do you see this as a matter of RPM? I'd think the CFM is more important. I'm not going to do anything with the original fan itself like hanging in some resistor or fan control. It's not *that* noisy. Is there actually an easy way to test the Sanyo Denki fan in some external box (not in ...

More quiet 80mm fans to meet these specifications?

Hello, this is not about PC parts but everything air cooled is of interest here I think and it just bugs me enough to ask: I have a video projector which is using two 80mm fans of this kind: http://db.sanyodenki.co.jp/product_db_e/coolingfan/dcfan/dc_fan_detail.php?master_id=1882 It's got "only" 29....

Ok, some more system specs:

Asus P5B Bios V.1.06.22
Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4GHz @3,0GHz
4 GB RAM (3.5GB usable with WINXP 32bit)
6 SATA HDD 7200rpm
+ several PCI extenstion cards for audio related stuff

No AV running. Swap file on 7200rpm drive.

So what's your take on this?

Thanks for any hints!

Re: ...that's an order of magnitude worse

why not get a standard modern notebook hard disk? I can't stress how critical the data is on our laptop when on the road trip. Yes I do backups but even then, a HD crash will still be fatal in terms of time lost - time to re-install the OS + MS Office software, etc. Not to mention the hassles of ha...

He probably got a single core something like 2.6GHz Pentium with at least 2GB of RAM. I'm not sure on this tho, I might ask him again, if that makes any differences, tho I doubt it... it's definitely not a low spec system. More like mid-range. And well, boot up time, programs starts... that's what c...

Well... actually I doubt it will stay competitive. The HyperOS 5M with 12GB (6 DDR2 modules, each 2GB) will cost you around 500 Euros as the cheapest RAM drive option and will "only" give you 175MB/s read speed. That compared to a RAID0 of two OCZ Vertex SLC SSDs, each delivering more than 200MB/s a...

RamDisks... current status?

With all the SSD talk around... are RamDisks other than the HyperOS Hyperdrive (5 or 5M now) being improved? There seems to be so little info about this on the net. Do you know about advancements in these directions?

SSD drive OCZ 64GB gives no speed-up?

Hello, to quote what my friend said about this: I thought it would be a great idea to get a SSD Drive as a System Drive. So I went to a local store and got me a 64GB OCZ Core Series MLC type SSD Drive (OCZSSD2-1C64G). I mirrored my system drive on the new SSD Drive which took veeeeery long: 10 hours...

Just spend a little more and get a Tera-RamSan stack. Much faster. Afterall, what's the point in having 53 programs opened so fast... just show me where the speed in real world helps (compared to a single SSD). And: Why do they get "only" 2GB/s out of 24 of those? That's an average of 85MB/s per dri...

I can't believe they're making nothing out of using a 5.25" bay for a 3.5" drive... but it seems so. Damn.

Silent HDD drive bay options?

Hi there... I thought about having one or two drives in a removable drive bay... which are cost effective solutions that may perhaps even do some drive damping and are silent at that? I intend to put 250GB-1TB drives in it, any pointers? I didn't know there was sooo much choice... Thanks in advance!...

Hello, I tried to install alternative ATI drivers for my Asus 1950 Pro for some other problem. But I came not as far. I removed the original ATI drivers completely first.
