If I can use the P182 as a reference, there will be no dust coming in from the top vent, since the fan is blowing air out of the case. The best solution for dust is filtered positive pressure. First eliminate the top fan and block the top opening, then add an intake fan, and another intake fan in a...

The reason why I dumped my P180 in favor of a Solo was because of the front door design- having to open a flimsy front door every time to access the power button. Again, in the P183 they've kept the power button behind a door that supposedly locks, although now I don't have to open the door to acce...

Okay. Possibly the Silverstone TJ08 is another candidate for you? It's also got two 120 mm fans, and seems to be more premium.

But just like you, I also think it's difficult to find a good µATX case.

What about the Cooler Master Elite 341 ? It's got two 120 mm fans at the front and rear. But why do you want to use a Core i7, if you write: Usage: no gaming and no overclocking. Standard light to medium stuff, nothing remarkable or intense. Wouldn't a motherboard with the G41 chipset and a Core 2 D...

Interesting, this seems like a nice competitor for the Cooler Master Sileo 500. Hopefully we'll see both cases reviewed by SPCR somewhere in the future. My thoughts: No eSATA connection on the front panel. I don't understand why they didn't include it, it's far more useful than FireWire. Overkill of...

Interesting to read that your K7 had vibrations, botch. Mine doesn't vibrate, what caused it? WR304, I just looked up the temperature in the BIOS. I read about the tricks to increase the pressure of HR-01, but I'm satisfied already so I didn't bother.

Nice mATX enclosure. Good that it doesn't come with a PSU unlike the NSK3480. The single turnoff is that they had to open up the left side panel with two ventilation holes. Why would anyone who'd buy a small mATX enclosure need so much cooling is beyond me? Those unnecessary holes allow noise to esc...

If it's merely an E5200, why not try a Scythe Ninja Mini? Cheaper and smaller than the Ninja 2, and shouldn't it perform adequate because it would be close to the rear 120 mm fan anyway?

That would be possible, but it would be duplication and a waste of space because the notebook would already have it's own integrated monitor. The other option you mention, scavenging notebooks for parts, could be interesting, but do you mean a self-built case with a custom case? Besides that, Dell r...

Thanks for your reply, I didn't know it was possible to use the Freezer 7 Pro as a passive cooler. If it doesn't get higher than 60 °C at full load, it should probably never go higher than 50 °C at full load with active cooling at silent noise levels, I assume.

The real performance of the Freezer 7 Pro with a modern CPU?

Currently I'm considering options to cut the price of my next PC build, and the CPU heatsink is one of the pieces of hardware which can be cheaper. My current plan is to buy a Thermalright HR-01 Plus (the Ultra-120 eXtreme is too expensive) with a Scythe SlipStream at 800 rpm. That costs € 36,76 +...

I intend to buy an Antec Solo, which uses one 120mm fan in the rear and two 92mm fans in the front. I don't want to do any undervolting, I want fans quiet out-of-the-box. Scythe sells the 120mm 800 rpm Slip Stream fan, which I intend to buy for this purpose. Without any undervolting, at 12V, it will...
