Thanks for the comments  The RAM are running in dual-channel. The board wouldn't post at 400MHz in stock so I had to up the RAM voltage a little bit from 2.5V to 2.6V. I also had to loosen the timings since the board was booting up with the Corsair XMS' timings rather than the significantly sl...

You can also use 2x 80mm fans on the VF-1000, they fit perfectly. I have that setup on my 8800GTS 640MB. Overclocked at 675/1620/999 core/shader/mem, I get 48C idle, and 71C ATi-Tool load. 8800GTS 640MB , VF-1000/RHS88, 2x 80mm Nexus: http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/2983/mg5656yo0.jpg Installed i...

A lot of the older G80 (8800GTX, 8800GTS 320/640) video cards have this problem. It's not your PSU. It happens when the card starts to draw a large current through the PCIe power connector (during 3D). The coil on the power stage of the card starts to oscillate in audible frequencies during the load...

For that setup, it shouldn't matter. You won't exceed the current rating of a standard 18 AWG wire - which is about 5A. That would give you 25W max on the +5V line and 60W max on the 12V line. SATA Hard Drives draw about 10W (max) each and the max you'll see in an optical drive is about 20W. So you'...

My Idle is about 140w and 'full-load' is about 335w from the wall. My monitor ran at about 80w from the wall. I measured this with a Kill-A-Watt, they're supposed to have an accuracy of -/+ 0.2%. My full-load test consisted of 2x SATA HDDs transferring files to each other, a DVD burning, network con...

Rivatuner: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163 It changes fan speed on the driver level, so it doesn't really need to be loaded after you set the speed. The only thing you need is an Nvidia card with a Voltage or RPM fan-speed control. Most cards after the 6-series are equipped with thi...

I've worked on Dell XPS 600's before, those exhaust fans should be BOTH exhausting. Someone at the factory must've installed it wrong (I've seen it on HPs too). Anyway, I say just get rid of those 92mm fans and just zip-tie a single quiet 92mm on the fan grill while the second slot is blocked (tape ...

If you want even better northbridge cooling, the HR-05 and the Ultra-120 Extreme will fit on a DS3R. I have the DS3L version but the layout is almost the same. Just that mounting the fan clip on the HR-05 side requires a lot of patience. Here's my setup: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2152/212179011...

sorry, im too lazy to look through your external links, but is this also an issue with GTS's? Yeah, it happens with the GTS. It happens somewhere in the power regulating stage. It only shows up when the card is nearing its maximum stress point (when running ATITool for example). However, when runni...
