Gelid SlimHero (or other for GA-H77N-WiFi)

Ignoring the ridiculous name for a moment... Has anyone had any experience with this heat sink? Is it any good? And does it actually fit on all the 'brilliantly' designed ITX boards with CPU sockets right next to the PCIe slots (Gigabyte H77-WiFi in my case)? According to Gelid's picture it should, ...

This new look is absolutely disgusting and useless, sorry. I'm not going to repeat what was said already.

Too bad, another forum to not be read anymore *sigh*

Have you tried the setup without the front fan? There's nothing for it to spot cool really so it seems unnecessary. Possibly if you add a fanless video card. But with the top down CPU cooler, that should help keep the airflow moving around enough. No; I thought about it for a few seconds but then I...

You mention the use of plastic tiles on the panels, is that vinyl? I don`t think that adding foam on top of that is necessary. I find foam effective against the noise produced by hard disk drives (and other mid/high frequency noises), but seeing that there`s none in your pc you could skip this step...

Re: Quitest 12-14cm fans at ultra-low voltage

I was considering good old cheap and trusty 12cm yate loons DS12L. I think I will actually start a thread on this, but just really quickly - based on my experience, I can't understand where that myth comes from. I bought 5 of these in March (the NCIX special) and they ALL suck... errr, blow.... I m...

my simple work pc

So I have finally (sort of) finalized my work pc that should have been operational about 9 months ago. I blame most of that delay on my unfortunate decision to try a Zotac ITX setup; I wasted so much money and time because of that thing... But anywhoo, better late than never. Due to being broke, I h...

New question though, I bought windows 7 and I'm trying to install it, but it gets stuck every time on expanding files, doesn't even get past 0%. Also tried XP, and server 2003, nothing. For what it's worth, I've done a couple of W7 installs where it would take forever to get past 0% (and then same ...

I have not been satisfied with the results. We'll see what happens as I start experimenting with PWM fans. It's can't be that bad. The stock intel setup uses a PWM fan. They do seem to work as designed. What motherboards and PWM fans have you used? The last 2 boards are Zotac 9300-g-e and an Asus M...

Noctua NF-P12 is the one you want for the CPU heatsink. (with either of the adapters, depending on your idea of quiet and good temps) I wouldn't bother with PWM fans at all... and I don't as a matter of fact. I have yet to find a mobo and pwm fan that would work as intended (not that I have tried ma...

I really liked the case in pictures. I bought the second one from CanComps (because it's the only one I could get around here, I like the Chieftec one better). This case, or at least the guts of it, is sold under a number of names/makes with different bezels and power supplies. TJ-08 if you ask me. Even though there's plenty of room for improvement. On the bright side, there's also plenty of room for HX520 and an optical drive. The worst thing to me is dealing with 3.5" HDDs in this case, but it's manageable. Also, you need to forget about the removable mobo tray if you're...

Just a quick thought on the Seasonic - are you 100% sure it's the PSU? My PC has serious squealing/whining issues if I leave the power saving features of the CPU enabled, and that issue vanishes when I turn them off. I know it's not an option for everyone, but just putting it out there :). That was...

Hopefully, they're making it 2-3" deeper, so that a tower heatsink doesn't conflict with the optical drive bay, and putting a fanless ~450W PSU in the front of the case, through which air can be drawn as an intake. Uh, I sure hope it's a big NO on both... (not that I think we need to worry about ei...
