I got the card, downloaded the latest Linux driver from ATI's website, and there's a glitch with 3D applications. A bright pink warning card in the box reads "IMPORTANT! -- Do Not Return This Product, ATI Customer Care Offers FREE Product Support". So I register at ATI's site, submit a trouble ticke...

Sure, I ordered it from Buy.com because I like their return policy better than Newegg's. It cost me $193.99, and I agree that's pricey, but I'm so busy right now I'd rather spend extra money to have a quiet solution out of the box than spend extra time modding a card to make it quiet.

fanless AGP dual DVI

I found a fanless AGP dual DVI card by using Newegg's search tool:

ATI Radeon® 9600 PRO PC & Mac® Edition

AnandTech has a review.

I'm ordering one right now.

1) When you say "it's quiet", can you relate it's noise level to other hardware in your system, so that we have some reference to compare it to? It's the loudest component in my system, but not by much. The sound it makes is gentle white noise. I've got it in a SLK3700AMB case with a S12-330 PSU. I...

Quiet mobile rack!

I spent many hours searching for a quiet mobile rack. Searching the forums here taught me that a) mobile racks need active cooling and b) most use 40mm fans, all of which are too loud. Ralf Hutter came up with a creative custom solution as seen in this thread , but I wanted a solution that requires ...

How big is the speed difference between the 2MB and 8MB version? I caught myself looking for an 8MB version then thought, "Wait a minute". I've already got 512MB of RAM in my system, and I'm running Linux which is automatically caching all disk access in this RAM. What's the point of adding another...

Damn you, SPCR!

I've quieted three computers in my apartment because of you (one silent even, with no moving parts!) and my attention is now focussed on the refrigerator in my kitchen. I'm wondering if Zalman makes a compressor heatpipe for it. My new Wiss tin snips (both red and green) are in my hands as I size up...

Having received my cases I'd like to warn you that two of them arrived with damage to the plastic bezel. Fortunately, I had ordered them from Directron and they replaced them for me.

I'm guessing Antec needs to do a better job of packaging these cases.

I like the cosmetics of the SLK3700AMB

I purchased an Antec SLK3700AMB case based on Ralf Hutter's posts and am very pleased with it. There have been many comments about its cooling and mechanical properties so I wanted to add one about its cosmetics. The color on the Antec web site is advertised as "Metallic Bronze" but mine doesn't loo...

quietmind, isnt the zalman quieter than the nexus? I don't have experience with either of them but made my decision based on the recommended PSU list , which rates the Nexus as an 8 and the Zalman a 7 on a scale of 1-10. I tested four fans before I settled on the 5-volted 92mm L1A. I tried a 120mm ...

he didnt even need a front fan, like he said. the only reason he put a 5 volted 92mm l1a in the front was to cool his hdd Um, thanks, but I don't see how this answers my questions. I didn't ask whether he needed a front fan; I asked why he didn't cut away the front grill. Furthermore, why not use a...

Does a fan guard provide EMI protection?

I'm considering cutting the fan grill(s) out of my new Antec SLK3700AMB case and replacing it with a fan guard . Does anyone know if the fan guard provides any EMI protection? If not, is it a problem from an EMI standpoint to have a 12cm hole in my case (in the back and possibly in the front as well...

Because originally I wasn't going to put a fan there. I ended up putting that 5-volted 92mm L1A there later, for cooling the HDD. If I was doing this again I'd do the same thing, unless I was going to run some pretty hot hardware. This case has such great ventilation that you really don't need two ...

I think the downside is primarily weight, not cost. At 773g the copper version exceeds the maximum specified weight (450g) for a Pentium 4 cooler.

The AlCu version, at 445g, is safer for moving around after it's been installed.

Why didn't you cut the front grill?

Hi Ralf, I just found this site and based on your recommendation I've ordered an Antec SLK3700AMB to be the case for my first quiet computer. I noticed you cut out the rear grill in your case for better airflow and I'm wondering, from looking at your photograph, why you didn't cut the front one as w...
