Well, my top games in terms of how much ive probably played them: 1. Diablo 2 2. UT2k4 3. GTA Vice City 4. Gran Turismo 4 5. Civ 3 However in terms of my favourite games id shuffle things around a bit. 1. Diablo 2 - Unbeatable! 2. GTA Vice City - The best GTA game, didnt take itself too seriously li...

I have the HannsG 28" beasty and its a very good monitor if you want screen space of more than 24" but dont fancy paying the price of a second hand car for it. I got mine since i was going from a 22" and wanted a decent step up in size. Picture quality is pretty impressive for a TN, the usual proble...

so do you reckon the q6600 is not worth the extra?
The Q8/9xxx CPU's are cheaper, faster and use less power. So i cant really think of a reason why youd go for the Q6600 unless you find it dirt cheap.

I woke up this morning intending to buy a 1005HA. This review hasn't changed my opinion. Its not perfect, but its the best evolution of the netbook so far and its price is very good (£250, most 10" rivals costing £250-350 with very little extra). I plan on getting the cheaper matte display version...

Lol at the recommendation for the 1GB 9400GT GPU. Though the MDB-X8STE-O motherboard has onboard video, I would suggest disabling it in the BIOS and utilizing a dedicated graphics card instead. Yes, this goes against most principles of green computing, but the performance difference if you are doing...

Short answer: Depends. Long answer: w7 isnt out yet, using RC1 or RTM versions a few tests have been done that ive read. The consensus is better than vista, but the amount varies alot. It could end up being better than XP, about the same, or a bit worse. Either way, its unlikely to make a massive di...

Also, do you really want a Quad Core? On an AM3 platform, you could go with the X3, which consumes "only" 95W and is thus easier to cool quietly. Misleading, the x3 is rated to use UP TO 95 under theoretical peak. In reality all CPU's at stock use less (usually alot less) than its TDP. That onboard...

I'd say the samsung F2's.. but thats just because i dont like WD much :) You can get pretty decent 4in3 cages without hotswap from coolermaster, they're not overly expensive either, and with a 120mm fan they will keep the drives cool - especially if you choose 5400rpm drives like the F2 or GP... Not so soon. Maybe not until 2011? The next capacity point for 3.5" platters is 640GB and it'll be available in early 2010: I hope it never gets to 1TB per platter. Why? Ive been a fan of WD green drives ever since they first appeared. Indeed i still have 3 of the original 4 platter 1TB drives in use. But once again i am running out of space. Duct tape, anywhere flat in your case. The conduction from the case wall coupled with minimal airflow will be enough to cool it.

Also, my response to porkchop at the bottom of the previous page should make it obvious -- the WD640 is WAY louder, and it does not have any speed advantage except for random access. I suggest making a powerful PC, sticking it somewhere far away from the end user so they cant hear it. Seems like the easier and cheaper option rather than watercooling the whole thing.

Not sure why you went for the 7750 CPU and that cooler. The CPU runs hot and is very much overkill for HTPC and i would guess that heatsink is far from the quietest.

Will this be sufficient for a PII X3 710 with 2 4830 or 4850 cards? I think the 4850 draws about 110w at load, so assuming the 710 draws around 100W, that's 320w/26A. What size monitor will you be using? If you are using that big GPU for gaming i would recomend you get a sound card rather than depend on onboard sound. It'll just make the whole experience as good as possible, and an ok sound card wont add much cost compared with the other componants.
