Turn off the main card in 2D mode to save power --> idle consumption to ~0W.

One more question for Erssa. I've been looking for this case for a while now, but it seems to be found nowhere in Finland. The availability date keeps pushing forward all the time. So where did you get yours?

My rubber-cork mat was from Biltema, not very expensive. The rubber mat was Acoustipack, but I'm not sure if you can buy it separately. It can be replaced by something similar, Biltema could have a replacement called something like 'heavy rubber mat' which comes in different thicknesses, 0.5mm, 1mm,...

Buy a pack of bitumen and foam which are meant for cars. Insert bitumen every where in the case. On top of that insert that foam. But tear the foil or other coating of it before. Otherwise it absorption capacity is reduced greatly. Actually a 2-layer sound insulation will be a lot more efficient, f...

What is your aim in this? Which noise source are you trying to silence? Normally the only thing that really counts is mass. Foam and stuff is good to dampen the noise inside the case, but I guess most people want to isolate the noise from the outside world. What I did use in my current case is a lay...

I wonder if the absolute measure is 175mm, or that you can fit a 175mm drive with connectors on the back in there.

Antec website says:
"NSK3400 only accepts 5.25" drives up to 175mm/6.9" long." (mistake with inch->cm on the website)

So now I guess it's hunt for the short-enough optical drive for many people.
Mine are over 190mm, so I think it's time to order the NSK3300...

So, if someone would follow your logic of lower total wattage and buy S12-330 instead of S12-550W, he would save money on purchase and end up with less efficent and "louder" computer. It is not wise to compare different models when finding out about efficiency differences between models of differen...

What do you think about the Antec NSK6500? I think it's a flippin' huge case. It's odd you would compare it directly to the Solo becuz that's comparing a Hummer to an Accord. The NSK 44 00 is still bigger than the Solo, but somewhat more comparable. What Solo has is good options for mounting the HD...

I like the V-series gone cube. It can fit an ATX PSU and should have sufficient cooling with 3x80mm and PSU fan. I would like to see an optional mBTX tray for it, so it could be used with both standards.

Scythe Ninja for the CPU. I would take the X2 4400+ instead because of the bigger cache and lower price. Or better still Opteron 165/170/175 and oc it. The 7800GT TOP is kinda old and expensive. I would change it to 7900GT or GTX. The GT will need a Zalman or Accelero to be silent, but the GTX might...

Yes, I somehow like the NSK3300 also. Although the TJ08 isn't that expensive either, slightly over 80 euros in Germany, but that's without PSU.

NSK3300:
349mm(H) x 197mm(W) x 356mm (D)

NSK1300:
200mm (H) x 268.5mm (W) x 330mm (D)

Aria:
200mm (H) x 269mm (W) x 335mm (D)

300W PSU will do fine with most setups. Even an X2 + SLI setup would probably work just fine. Although first you'll have to find an mATX SLI mobo.

Edit: The Temjim TJ08 takes an ATX PSU

Also - The front is silver. The 5.25 drive bays don't look like they have flip-down covers. I did a pretty light search but found nothing - does anyone know of any silver-faced optical drives? Not everybody needs an upgrade path. Some nice mATX mobo with integrated graphics will be just fine. Or if you need 3D get something like this:

I wonder if Thermalright XP-120 will fit in that case.

If you're using two or three displays, then Matrox is still the strongest performer. Multimonitor support of ATI and Nvidia are still not on par with Matrox. Also the Matrox drivers are much lighter than Catalyst or Forceware and they use much less system resources. I still have a G400 on my seconda...

Antec SLK2650 or NSK4400 might be good choices. Or you might consider Lian-Li G50:
http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=00440
http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/ ... PC-G50.htm

The G50 can't fit a tall heatsink, so something like XP-120 might be good for it.

The 7600GS uses less energy and produces less heat than the 7600GT, so it will have less effect on system temperatures than the GT. Simple as that.
