Really? I shall have to change that. I'd assumed it was just an incompatibility, as the OS I'm using (Server 2008 64 bit) is perhaps not the most widely supported version of Windows out there...

Thanks for the replies. If I'd read the review properly, I would have known that the starting voltage of the 800RPM fans is quite high (8.9V). Experiments with some AA batteries and packing tape ;) indicate that the starting voltage for my stock case fans is just over 4.5V, or almost exactly that of...

I'm having a problem with the fans in my computer. On the recommendation of this site, I replaced the stock fans in my new case with Scythe S-Flex 800 fans. I'm certainly no electronics expert either, but just thought I'd add that I recently got one of those PSUs and it seems to work fine - no flickering lights or broken disks (so far, at least :) ) As Ash says, it does sound like yours is faulty. Hope you get it sorted out.
