Re: Improving airflow and cooling in old Antec Solo

I used to use a Kama Bay, but I eventually removed it and restored the original Solo bay covers. I haven't noticed any difference in CPU temp and acoustically my PC sounds better. I think just removing the steel bay shields and letting the intake air flow in through the front panel side openings is ...

Re: Antec NSK3480 with passively cooled Core i7 2600

Have you checked Thermalright's HR-02 compatibility list? They are pretty good at keeping an up-to-date list of which mobos will fit an HR-02 without blocking any expansion slots.

Re: giant Scythe Susanoo for passive cooling

i was going to get the thermalright HR-02 for passive cooling, but now i'm considering this scythe susanoo for passive cooling. because of the sheer size of this thing, i would guess that it might do better than the HR-02. if clearance is not an issue, then would there be any reason to go for the H...

Vanderwijk, how much clearance does that heatsink have from the side panel? I was thinking of a similar build, but with Acostipack applied to the side panel.

If you're not in a rush to get a new case, Silverstone showed off at CES the TJ08-E matx case, which is due to be out sometime this year. It is supposed to support five hard disk drives and is being aimed at the <$100 market. You can see it being described here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOOZAr...

The card has a DIP switch to toggle the fan between performance & silent mode. Can you tell me where it is located on the card? I bought one of these, but didn't see the DIP switch, nor did I see it documented. However, I have factory OC version, which I intend to underclock back to regular (the fa...

With a single fan as intake, I'd be worried about hotspots forming in the case, but I suppose it is small enough that it wouldn't be an issue.

Hey everyone, my old 8800GT died over the weekend which has accelerated my plans of replacing it with a new card. I'm kinda underwhelmed with the current crop of fanless video cards out there, so I shifted to look at low noise fanned cards. From SPCR's review, I'm leaning towards a 6850 with my eye ...

Fanless HR-01 on a i5-760?

Hey everyone, I recently refreshed my PC with a i5-760 & a GA-P55M-UD2 mobo housed inside my Antec Solo. At the moment I'm using the Intel stock cooler. I'd like to passively cool the cpu (no intention of OCing) and I've been looking at heatsinks. The Thermalright HR-01 caught my eye, although I don...

One thing I like about both those cases is that the spots for the front intake fans are completely cut out, no intake metal grill underneath the filters and front bezel. The presence of unnecessary intake fan grills is one of my quibbles with the Solo.

I'm currently have a Kama Bay installed in my Solo case I am trying to run at positive pressure. Now that the Slipstream fans have been out in retail for awhile, has anyone done testing of the fans yet to determine if the CFM ratings were accurate? I noticed a clicking noise with the Kama bay fan as well. Its a pretty faint click and it could be either the fan or the vibration of the two retention clips for the filter.
