Re: CPU cooler on GPU (super silent cooling)

Don't think that's not crossed my mind  but unfortunately it would have no chance of cooling a GPU, as TDPs are usually MUCH higher in the 150w range for a midrange card. Yeah, my 7870 XT has a TDP of 185W. I tried to cool it passively with a Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Plus. Stock cooler coul...

Re: CPU cooler on GPU (super silent cooling)

The cooler is mounted using just a steel plate, which was actually the side of an old PSU and was cut to fit using tin snips, with holes drilled in the right places for the screws. The standoffs you see actually came with the cooler, so they are designed to be the right height with that particular ...

Re: CPU cooler on GPU (super silent cooling)

Hi MattP. I am very impressed by original build and this mod. I have considered doing this but I wasn't sure how to go about creating a custom mounting bracket. Can you tell us how you made the custom mount? From the looks of it you are using motherboard standoffs to attack the piece of steel to the...

Re: Want to help Corsair build the [quietest] case ever?

It would be great to hear if you are still reading this thread or not. Regardless here are my thoughts. I currently have a Silverstone Raven RV01 (which is terrible) and previously had the amazing Antec Solo. The main thing I dislike about my current case is the dust, ensure you have good filters an...

Re: Radeon 7870 OC w/ S1 Plus - Fast, cool, and quiet!!

I heard the Accelero S1 Plus isn't compatible with the 7950 so you might want to check that out first alexbwang111.

I am planning to do the same with a Powercolor 7870 PCS+, but with only a single Nexus 120mm fan.
Hopefully I won't fry VRM's like I did my 5850 with the Accelero S1 Rev.2 lol

Re: RotoSub: fans with built-in active noise control

The technology may work great when comparing it with a normal fan but I wonder how it does compared to a already silent fan eg. Nexus.

Newegg now has the passive HD6850 if anyone wanted it. Now all I need is for it to show up here in Australia.

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey

LG Flatron L1719S - Very acceptable, noticeable but not annoying
Samsung SyncMaster 226BW - Very loud, above 90% brightness high pitch, below a bit lower but still loud.

I'm curious to know if all LED monitors will are quiet. Anyone have a noisy LED monitor?

Re: Project: Hush!

This is epic!

I worry when a cpu cooler puts the strength of my motherboards socket to the test but this, this would probably snap my desk. When I was reading the start I thought you were going to put this giant cooler on your cpu for the lol's :P .
