Re: Semi-passive rig

Hello! What temps are you getting with that cooler? Could you post a screenshot running Prime95 with the CPU at stock speed?
Thank you and have a nice day!

I absolutly agree with Tima. I've had both MSI and Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB cards and I kept the Gigabyte for myself. The MSI is a little louder in idle (because the fan is @50% as opposed to 40% on the Gigabyte) and a LOT louder in games... you can clearly hear the difference. The Gigabyte is not silen...

I think they've disabled the head park "feature" in this new HDD. Hence the idle power is almost the same as read/write power. All of the other Caviar Green HDDs with that feature consume almost 50% of read/write power in idle. I read on another forum that WD10EARS was supposed to be part of the Cav...

It doesn't fit. In the SOLO you can mount graphics cards that are < 9.5" in length.

If you prefer a more compact case (and don't like the front door on P182 as well) go SOLO. Else go with P182.

Thanks a lot. Maybe when you'll take it out of the RAID config you'll be able to set the AAM as well.

Sapphire's Vapor-X cooler is in my opinion the best GPU air cooler on the market today. It's absolutly silent in both idle and load and keeps the hot RV770 chipset under 70C in FurMark as you can see above. P.S.: the is no need to rename the Furmark executable file. I'm using the newest Ctalyst 9.6 ...

Get a Sapphire Vapor-X. The HD4850 version will suit you fine. I own it and all I can say is that you won't hear it with the fan on auto. Temps are great too... 42C in idle and 66C in FurMark maximum stress test @ 28-29C ambient temp.

You don't need a 120mm fan. 2 x 92mm fans work great for cooling the HDDs and the airflow is spread over the whole HDD cage; a single 120mm wouldn't be able to cover all of it Personally I have the SOLO + 2 x92mm Nexus RealSilent @ 7V (~890rpm) and I can't hear them. The HDD temp is 4-5C lower than ...

Get a Sapphire HD4850 Vapor-X. I think it's one of the quietest video cards with stock air cooling and the temperatures are great: max 66C (on 30% fan duty cycle) in FurMark with very little case cooling.

Antec SOLO case and Nexus fans are also highly recomanded (I use them as well).

I think 2 x92mm will blow more air than 1 x 120mm but the difference is very small. If used for front intake the 2x92mm solution is better because the air flow is spread more evenly across the HDD section.

I have the Sapphire HD4850 Vapor-X and it's very quiet... might as well say silent because I can't hear it over the CPU fan which is a CoolerMaster 120mm @ 1050rpm. So I'll rate the Vapor-X at <23dB. :)

Try a Sapphire HD4850/HD4870 Vapor-X. They have VGA / DVI /HDMI native ports on the back and are dead silent. I have one and I'm pleased with it so far.
