Will Scythe Ninja 2 fit this case? As a rule of thumb, I've been able to fit a Ninja (same size as the Ninja 2) in just about any case that fits a 12cm fan on the back. Since this case is one of the VERY few ones in uATX form factor able to fit a 12cm fan, my guess would be "yes". But since I wasn'...

agree. I tried a WI Pico and can't power up the spin of a 2.5" hdd. That is the scream of a severely overtaxed Pico and/or (most likely OR) power brick. Don't forget the Pico still has to convert part of the 12V input to 3.3V AND 5V (-12V is not present in the Pico, and I believe +5VSB also isn't a...

P.S.: Hmm, I wonder if you can get two of those working in the same IDE controller... I'm planning a WHS box, so the more controllers I can use, the better... lol

Wow I didn't know that. My power brick has adjustable output voltage from 15-21V, so I could also run this system on the original Pico PSU? Sorry, my bad. I must have been too sleepy at the time. According to this , max input voltage on regular Picos is 13V.   Sorry. Now the prob...

Indeed. If that happens, the power rating of the brick (or lack thereof) is the least of his problems... lol

Hopefully that's not the issue.

Cheers.

Re: Do multiple tries on spin-up hurt longevity?

Also, I'd find a buddy with a multimeter and check voltages at the wall outlet. Since you say an additional device plugged in worsens the problem you may be at the limit of the circuit. From what I've read, and considering the parts he's using, most likely it's the brick not having enough juice to ...

I'm wondering whether the WI (wide-input) Pico's are more susceptible to these problems. As I understand it the 12V Pico's just pass the 12V through straight from the brick, whereas the WI's have to convert whatever voltage they get to 12V. Put it this way - the 12V current limits on the WI Pico's ...

The M350, for one, is DIRT cheap...

Hope this one helps.

That is a clear case of lack of amperage on either the 5v or 12v rail, or both. Probably the offender is the 12v rail. Since you're running IDE drives, I can only see one viable option for you :upping at least the power brick capacity (unless you have a really good brick, capable of overshooting wit...

Not really. At least in Portugal. Right now the WD20EADS is about €300, while the WD10EADS sells for around €95~€100, and 1.5TB drives (including the VERY elusive WD15EADS) are about €150 a pop. So I'd say, no. Price probably won't come down until Samsung and/or Seagate release 2TB models. A...

I have been trying to get stuff like that in Portugal for years now. That said, AHCI is required for hot swap. Don't even think about trying to get a drive to detect otherwise. Yep, ICH7 also doesn't support multipliers.

Odd thing ICH10 doesn't, too... Maybe it needs AHCI or RAID modes being enabled? IDE and AHCI/RAID modes work completely different on Intel chipsets...

AFAIK, most eSATA backplate brackets have both a SATA port connection and a Molex connector. Which means eSATA power comes from the Molex connector, not the SATA port. Other eSATA brackets are simply "gender-changers" (no power is added) or, even worse, plain SATA ports (not even eSATA, that is). Wh...
