Re: CS550M alternatives
Returned it and bought a bequiet 600 M E10. Makes no noise of relevance of any kind, for a while now. Maybe the Corsair was faulty after all, anyway it looked very flimsy. What is the most frequent mod by us silencers of a psu? To break the warranty and change the fan - the bequiet already comes wit...

Re: SFX-L power supplies: modular SFX with a 12cm fan
Disppointing considering the extra time taken to make it silent, but then again rarely does delaying some time to fix something problematic work at all.

Re: CS550M alternatives
That is interesting Luciano. Can you clarify? It is the first time I'm hearing about such a thing. It is also the first time that I noticed it, even with pre-assembled computers with non brand psus, anywhere. Do you need to be using a ups to cause it? Is it because of bad electrical wiring? Or non g...

Re: CS550M alternatives
The fan is adequately quiet running, but the psu makes those two noises at start, and louder at shutdown. Unacceptable to me. I'm not gonna mess with it, since I want to return it intact, as is my right. Unfortunately postal sending costs are on me :(. A good review gives you a snapshot of the early...

CS550M alternatives
I bought a Corsair CS550M, in part because it was mentioned in some articles here at spcr. I wanted something silent and prefered something small (CSM550M=140mm), because I was thinking of moving to a small mITX case. It was also cheaper at 87€. Operating noise is normal and acceptable for now, but ...

I did it and I didn't even change the fan. I would buy a better psu instead of spending money on an expensive fan! Let's face it most people don't need super power so they can live with undervolted fans. I had plenty of hairdryers, but silenced them. The graphics card at lower frequencies can handle...

Help with Seagate drive
I have a very noisy Seagate ST3500630AS (Barracuda 7.10). I silenced the fans on my system to very reasonable levels, but the 500G hardrive is driving me crazy. I researched here and suspended it with elastics, but it still makes that clicking/ticking sound all the time, I would say when the HD ligh...
