Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

Wow, I picked up the same MSI card today and just played about an hour of Titanfall with the card at 100% stock settings. I'm already very happy with it for 1080p gaming. Fan min: 32% 880 rpm Fan max: 34% 976 rpm Temp never got above 55C. There's obviously some room to spin those fans down especiall...

Biostar NM70I-847 - cheap 17w Celeron 847 + motherboard?

I was looking into building another no moving part PC for audio use, and came across this cheap board on Newegg. It has a 17w Sandy Bridge Celeron 847 (1.1ghz dual core, HD2000 graphics) soldered on. Has anyone looked into this board before? Pros: - Cheap - CPU should benchmark faster than AMD E350 ...

Re: Coolers for Mini-ITX Intel build

Hello, I would suggest the Zalman CNPS8900 low profile cooler (60mm). You get good cooling performance for its height(temps will drop 6C-10C over stock cooler) That's a good point. I haven't found anyone that has confirmed whether or not it will block PCIe or RAM slots on this board yet. If anyone ...

Re: Coolers for Mini-ITX Intel build

I couldn't find the Samuel 17 anywhere, but I'll keep looking. For now I decided to go ahead and install an Antec Kuhler 620.

Here's a teaser showing how it fit, but I'll post a full build thread once its done.

Thanks for the tip - that looks better. Does it work with the Intel backplate?

Do you happen to have the model # of the fan? I have only found 25mm tall so far @ NewEgg

Coolers for Mini-ITX Intel build

The new Noctua review looks good, but I think it will block the PCI-e slot in the Intel DH77DF ivy bridge mini-itx board. Noctua says it will block the PCI-e slot in the DH67CF, which appears to have the same layout. (list here http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=46&lng=...

Re: Silent Home Server Build Guide

One question: Have you tried power measurements on WHS v1 vs WHS Vail or another OS? Windows Server 2003 (WHS v1) has less power management support than 2008 (WHS Vail). I can't speak to the current Linux or *BSD systems though. When building my last server - I found that the idle was lower after Wi...

MikeC: Are there any plans to control PWM fans properly with PWM instead of reduced voltage? Dropping the voltage on a PWM fan is not running the way it was designed.

I posted the same question on the recent CM Hyper 212+ review, but never received a reply.

I don't have a spl meter, but on my athlon ii x3 440 at idle, its louder than scythe's 120mm pwm fan, and similar to an antec tricool 120 on low. Install was harder than thermalright hr01 or xigmatek hdt-s1283. The backplate requires you to hold parts on top and bottom of the motherboard until tight...

32 to 40c is pretty good - you're not going to get much cooler than that since there are other components dumping heat into the case too. Unless you're hitting 70+ under load, the cooling is working right
