Seems quite a quick replacement cycle. The Core 1 series only hit retail in the UK about two weeks ago. Currently running a Core 1 64 GB to set up my new HTPC. Working absolutely fine so far and (obviously) completely silent. I've been waiting for an affordable SSD for a while; how I rationalised it...

hmmm. Well the good news is that the ssd arrived and I finished off the system over the weekend. The bad news is that have managed to fry the 8800gt. Installed video card with pretzelled s1 and set about installing vista with case open, acting on the assumption that basic os shouldn't really be stre...

Still waiting for the sodding OCZ SSD to come into stock so I can finish off the HTPC. It's all built otherwise... I shouldn't imagine there'll be any problems doing the same arrangement with an HD4850 (I assume the card isn't too long for the fusion) I am slightly nervous about the airflow as the S...

PPS considered a 4850 but as I see it the 8800 offers roughly equivalent performance but runs MUCH cooler. If HD 4850 is equal in 9800 GTX beating it in some games, losing some giving roughly same performance. So 8800 GT may offer competiting perofrmance in CRT's and Sub 22" TFT range on smaller re...

I think it really depends on your case elemental. This is in an antec fusion, which allows very little vertical space around the cpu cooler (minja) and the gpu fins (sparkle 8800gt passive), so it works rather well in this case. how did you managed to get the sparkle 8800gt passive into the fusion?...

Has anyone successfully put an Accelero into a Fusion / NSK2400? I'm thinking that it would wrap over a half-height htpc card pretty easily - but you'd lose the adjacent PCI slot, and probably the next PCI-E 1x slot or run into the CPU cooler. Anyway, I'd like to get my 50oC idle 3450 down a bit, b...

Interesting FYI Sapphires passively cooled Radeon 3870 http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=13348&page=4 Not sure but it the heatpipes loop over quite close to the top of the card so it might fit in the Fusion's (limited) clearance Also the main heatsink is on the back of the card ==> the side...

Fastest passively cooled video card to fit a Fusion case?
Laying some groundwork here. Sketching out an HTPC, although will probably wait for 64GB SSDs to drop below £200 before I build anything. Anyhow preliminary aim is to get as powerful a silent PC as is possible to squeeze into an Antec Fusion case. Aim is to use passively cooled where possible (prob...
