Now I have everything archived in FLAC I can afford to be pretty flexible with lossy codec choice. After all, the is only a set and forget all night job in order to get my whole collection into any format I fancy. Ripping straight to a lossy codec is asking for trouble in the long run iyam. After al...

Compucase 7K09 uATX Desktop Black Case 367mm(W) x 99mm(H) x 350mm(D) Up to 3 3.5" HDs if you use the external 3.5" bay and the external 5.25" (with an adaptor) for HDs. Silverstone do something similar, but that would be too nice (see: expensive) to hide away as a file server. Just make sure you ge...

If that is really all you want to do then a gigabit nas box that supports p2p downloads maybe be suitable.

It would also be the most energy efficient for keeping it on 24/7.

I also got the Modu82+ 425W at eclipse, along with some other stuff. Have never shopped with them before, but they seemed to have the cheapest prices and all the stuff I wanted in stock. Modu82+ 425W £50 Silverstone GD-02 £90 640Gb Samsung Spinpoint F1 £45 (rounded prices, including vat) Was slig...

I'd just settled for the 425W modu82 :(

Now I think I'm gonna have real trouble finding a decent quality sub 500W modular PSU that is around £50.

Any ideas would be welcome.

I don't mean to be picky, but that looks like a Sonata II from where I'm standing. And I should know, I've had a few (er... have one, I mean :? ) Sorry for my lack off meaningful input. Erm... In my opinion, for average, non-overclocked, systems decent top-down coolers are preferable to equiv...

Some longish hair bands should be pretty easy to come across. And as you can see, two fans blow directly (albeit via the cpu cooler) into the face of the drive. http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4201/drawerpcrl2.jpg So cooling should, hopefully, be ok. Although I can't test it out realistically, AF...

The only really quiet optical drive is the one you don't use that often. The only time I use mine for media is when I'm ripping it to my hard drive. I know this is considered illegal (or semi-legal) with dvds, but I consider it fair use  , since I bought it in the first place. Anyway, this ...

Ghetto mounting

I've been looking around for (lazy) ways of softmounting my hdd. The problem is, my hdd has to fit in this space: http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/5208/spacedg6.jpg ...which means vertical mounting. However, I just bought a wee dvd drive and it came in this packaging material: (the elastic bands I...

I just bought 2 Sharkoon System Fan Series 70x70x15mm 2000rpm 21db(A) They seem ok, if not spectacular, should be pretty quiet once they are undervolted. BTW: http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/6956/drawerpcqi2.jpg As you can see, there aint much room for external mounting and ducting in my drawer :...

It's actually more of a clearance issue, so 80mm really is a no go. Also, an 80mm fan ducted or mounted at an angle is impossible due to depth. From what I can tell, 60mm is just as oddball and 40mm is unnecessarily small. Seriously, any ideas would be really handy, even if it's just a brand to go w...

70mm options.

Hi. Sorry to just barge in asking questions... er... but... I'm after a 70mm fan (or two) to use as intakes for a scratch build I'm working on. I had a quick hunt through the forum, and there wasn't much info on 70mm fans (understandably, as they are almost the same size as the much more popular 80m...

I know it's off topic (for the whole site :? ) but most overclocked air cooled system could be fun with a few of these

Might wake up the neighbours though :D
