Re: Audio System Mods, Repairs & Maintenance

I have a question about cleaning pots and switches in audio equipment Toothpaste or coca-cola are great stuff to remove corrosion both for silver, copper and golden surfaces. (I'm not sure if it works for coal surfaces used on some variable switches in older amps, but worth a try as well). How you ...

Re: Time for upgrade after 6 years, shopping list help neede

i5 6600K w/o separate GPU seems like a solution for me, thanks a lot, so let's move along to other components. Using a passive PSU would be lovely, but it would require opening the lower chamber upwards for airflow in this mod, possibly causing too much heat into the case - on the other hand, more h...

Please detail the video editing requirements... Thanks for joining in! 2016 should still go with 1080p, but I'm after a build for few more years so 4K I guess. Well, another small upgrade later is an option too. My editing is mostly cutting 50-500 short clips from longer takes and combining them to...

Long time since I've visited this forum, still very thankful for all the people helping me out six years ago :) I've built my current silent desktop PC removing fans from CPU, GPU and Case, adding passive cooling components, modding P182 case by blocking all grills except for those in the bottom, an...

Re: Rebuilding quiet PC.

I think I should recommend my chimney-build, since you have a set of similar parts there. My system is still running, but nowadays this performance level can be reached with lower wattage. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=57619

Sounds good in general, just keep those case fans spinning fast enough or let temperatures control the voltage. 9800 can handle its high temps, but if its heat is spreading inside your case your MB might run in too hot surrounding. If possible, let the top fan be controlled by VGA- or System-tempera...

Your PSU (235W) runs at about 80%-85% efficiency with low load of 44W. That lives your PC 0,85*44W=37W (7 watts of 10-15 solved?) or That lives your PC 0,80*44W=35W (9 watts of 10-15 solved?) Tuner card gives ~1W, each fan adds another ~1W. (11-14W solved?) If you have any extra performace in your C...

I highly doubt the savings in power consumption is enough to make up for the cost of a new board. Let's take an 80W idle computer (quite normal) and use it 24/7 for a year. 24h*365*80W=700800Wh=700,8kWh 700kW*12¢/kWh~80$ Putting that much to reach 40W system pays back in 2 years in electricity. If...
