Asking this to be sure: So you can set a case fan at 500rpm and a min of say 30c exhaust. And if it rises to 31 the intake will ramp up till it drops back to 30c? I have been wondering if that's the case since every review I read so far didn't go into detail about the auto's behaviour and I really w...

Animals have evolved to automatically focus on the unknown, seek patterns where there are none etc as it aids in survival in the wild. Unfortunately all these data processing occurs automatically. In the future if we have engineered humans it would be nice to have conscience control over these func...

Thanks very much, I can understand it now. Though in theory there is the so called sound masking effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auditory_masking), different sounds have different characters (e.g. different spectrum and tones). Unless it becomes somewhat "white" like noise (flat spectrum), our...

I dont know how tight knit your filter is, but if one good slipstream fan cant make enough pressure to pull air in, then ill be damned. The fact is, it can. And making the sandwich is really, and truely pointless if you can just duct to the front of the case. Either you need to invest in a better f...

Given that you guys are the ones with the fluid dynamic stuff. Perhaps you guys can calculate the minimal distance needed between two 38 or 25 mm fans for the flow to sooth themselves. Given that following facts: 1) My experiment shows 0mm space will just stall the 2nd fan 2) Honeycomb for about 20...

Thought I should do a little winter update while I'm at it: -The fan stack speed is reduced to 570~630. It simply can't go lower than that as I can't hear any changes, the biggest noise source is the air passing the filter. However it is a smooth whoosh. -The most annoying source of noise now is act...

I see.. well, I was goin for a single fan solution..and ditching the stack. But honestly, if it works..why not I guess. Sometimes I analyze things a bit too much, I guess its my engineering background. Although I still think my method would preform better given constant acoustics, if the stack work...

Don't take this the wrong way, but the fan stack is useless, despite what you may believe..and here's why. Adding honeycomb does cut down on air circulation between fans, but it actually works against you. All that surface area adds what's called "head loss" in the stack. This head loss is a fricti...

Just use a spare 12cm fan as a desk fan. A good choice is the tri-cool which every owner of the P18x would have some lying around. The built in speed changer makes it a great desk fan with only the power supply to worry about. I used a PSU module from an old fax machine. http://img15.imageshack.us/i...

Re: How do you reverse the middle NMB fan?
Hi, Hypernova; How do you reverse the middle NMB fan to rotate in counter direction? I actually want to buy a Delta EFB1212LE 120x38mm Triple Blade Low Speed fan, which rotates counter-clockwise, to try this idea out. But this Delta fan is out of stock everywhere. Thanks. I didn't, that's why there...

What did you use to undervolt your video card? Radeon BIOS Editor. A less involved method is rivatuner, google for guides and utilities that may assist in finding out the lowest voltage you can get for your card. And note that some cards aren't supported by RT for volt tuning. My setting for 4870X2...

if i recall correctly, there have been a number of 4770 reviews that questioned the power draw of the cards at idle, they are sucking up way too much juice... some of the boards are much better under full load, but how much time does your computer spend running under a full gaming load? i'm wonderi...

And if you got all that cash why not go straight to the 4870X2? As I told above, my aim is a gaming-capable rig that is as quiet as possible. A double GPU card is a bit scary as far as quietness is concerned. SSDs are 0 dB investments. Dual GPUs are definitely not ;-) The fan of the X2 defaults at ...

My p182 can handle it while on min fan(sandwich) so for for p183's it should be a walk in the park.

The top fan should be moved forward a bit. It looks like half of its output goes straight to the exhaust and is wasted. +ve pressure is good for back venting vid cards since they will act as exhausts. In a -ve pressure case the can can end up fighting the case exhaust fan for air and need to ramp up...

I don't think you can write off the power button issue that easily. For me it's a major annoyance with my P182, especially as I use S3 sleep mode a lot. I have to disable USB wake-up or the PC will wake when the mouse is nudged (I have a cat...) so the only option is to use the power button. Er... ...

If you want effective filtered intake you need to concentrate on intake fans. More exhaust fan will hurt the filter's effectiveness.
See my build for an example that focus on filtered intakes.

Looks pretty good! Is the triple fan sandwich really necessary though? (It may be, I'm just curious if you have tried just one fan being ducted through towards the 4870X2). You need it if you want to use air filters as the impedance kills almost all air flow without enough pressure. "Also, your fan...
