Re: Seasonic G360W gold for $60 - Review & Giveaway!
This PSU looks really promising and delivers 80 plus gold certification at a really nice price point. Unfortunately, my newer desktop builds feature smaller cases the lengths of these cables seem too long. The G360W may still be ideal for replacing older power supplys for EATX desktop computers. Typ...

Re: Partial Upgrade and Silencing Questions
In my experience, the best way to make a considerable difference in noise is a fan controller. After getting The Scythe Kaze Master Ace fan controller, I could undervolt my fans down to an inaudible level when my system wasn't used for gaming. I could even turn off my fans during winter.

You should try having the power supply intake air from outside the case. I've tried both configurations and I found that my computer ran alot cooler when the power supply took air from outside of the case. edit: I forgot to mention make sure your video card doesn't block any extra SATA ports. the GT...

The Big Shuriken is mainly a preventative heat sink. It reduced the temperatures up to 5 degrees Celsius. The heat sink is shorter than the stock heat sink for my Q9550 but it's wider. but I agree a stock heat sink should be sufficient. I am really glad that I spent the money to buy some good 120mm ...

Cable management is key in my opinion. I have a SG03 as well and when I play DX10 games I need to crank my fans to max to keep it my GTX260 OC2 under 70. The fan used to cool the GTX260 is a Scythe Slipstream, I run it at 2000 RPM to keep it cool. I can run it at a lower RPM but maxing it out is eas...

Arctic Silver 5 vs ICD
I let my brother use the ICD sample I received and he is running a intel stock cooler and his temperature maxed out at 45 degrees celsius with Arctic Silver 5 and now it maxes out at 42 degrees celsius.
ICD = 42 C
AC5 = 45 C.
He is running an intel e6600 (stock clocked)

I think that oiling the slipstream requires peeling sticker off. Under that you find a "hole". Drop few drops there. That's how I did it with my 80mm back in the day. I bought a 2100 RPM slipstream and slowed it down to 800 RPM with my fan controller and it hasn't run out of lubricant yet :) (8 mon...

I was never a fan of the heat dissapation concept behind the SG-02 case. In my experience PSU fans don't generate enough air pressure to pull heat away from heatsinks effectively. In the past, I have built computers that draw heat away from the CPU with the PSU. Typically the whole case runs warmer....

I am not much of a typist but my simple answer is no. except for that one about being comfortable talking to a girl about this subject. It doesn't matter what race, nationality, or sex. Technology brings the world together, especially in this millennium. For example CES 2009. :) As far as the PC par...

Wow this case will be hard to silence. If the case is as thin as you guys expect it to be it might have horrible sound dampening properties. Especially if you mount four 120mm Fans into it. I am really impressed with the locations for the HDD mounts. The HDD mounts are above and below the front fan....

What form factor is preferable? Mini tower, HTPC?
I would suggest:
antec NSK3480 for a mini tower
http://www.antec.com/usa/productDetails ... 80&lan=us#
or
Silverstone ML2 for a slim case.

What about a Silverstone SG-03? Also, I convinced my friend into buying an Aerocool M40.. It's bigger than you think. I fit a Ninja Mini into his computer a few months ago. I didn't like how there was no airflow from the 120mm going through the harddrive. However, there is a place in front of the ha...

This is a bit off topic but another key aspect you need to keep in mind while choosing between vista and XP is the amount of ram you will be instlaling on your computer because if you install 4Gb of ram you will need to use a 64-bit operating system I would buy quads because it's productive longevit...
