Antec Twelve hundred TOP positive pressure server
Hello all, A few days ago i ended up buying a Antec Twelve hundred case second hand from somebody ( still awaiting delivery ), and i am planing on installing a 5.25" => 3.5" 5 Drive solution in each of the 12 5.25" slots ( that means 4 * 5 drives ). One thing that got me wondering, is the cooling of...

any info on when will 1.5TB F2 be available worldwide? I've seen several stores in Europe with dates showing this week, or next week for availability, but none of them have it available. At the same time, i'm somewhat disappointed by the price. Over here, you can get the 1.5TB Seagate for 115€ to...

Its 5400rpm. This mess started with the message that the original WD 1TB drives had a speed off "5400rpm to 7200rpm". This started its own myth, combined with some smartass marketeers ... Reality was, the drivers are 5400rpm. But, depending on the color code, this differs. For instance, the WD green...

Your not finding a review, because nobody has one in stock. German Pricewatch = 0 results. Several shops that get new tech fast = No Samsung above 1TB ( but they do have the WD's ). Internet search = 0 in stock. Its another paper launch. Samsung has done that before with some of its hd's. Or they fo...

Re: Are there any two platter 1TB 7,200 RPM drives?
Only one currently, seagate 7200.12. Not sure if the 1tb is in major availability yet. Also personally I don't trust 500GB platters yet, too early in the development cycle(see 7200.11 issues) To be fair to Seagate, the problems are firmware related, not the HD's them selfs. Firmware, and bad manage...

If you have the money, get an ANS-9010 or 9010B. This is a ramdrive, complete with battery backup and CF flash backup capability. Its a nice Ramdisk idea, but the tests clearly show that like with cheap SSD's, its being held back by the controller on it ( and the SATA interface, but it looks like t...

For those curious about the 2TB WD20EADS models, I just picked up a pair and tested one. I can confirm that the WD20EADS operates just like WD10EADS - the 8 second idle timer is present *and* Load Cycle Count is not being incremented when it happens. The clicking noise is about the same, perhaps a ...

Try running those WD Green's in a 4 drive, Raid 5 set. Then you will notice that head parking even more as the 4 hd's need to unpark there heads. karazy: Turning off intellipark in theory will increase the response time as they don't need to unpark every time you access your system ( with no activit...

Thanks very much for the tips. I've never ventured into Linux but if Windows7 doesn't live up to my expectations then I'll be giving it a whirl (or perhaps even making a Hackintosh if I can figure it out). ;) I don't like Vista at all but my new system is going to have way more than 3GB ram and sho...

Well, here i have 8 HD's in a P182 case. HD: 4 * 750 & 4 * 1TB WD Green power. 4 of the 7200rpm 750GB are in the P182 HD cage, and 4 are on a 5" to 3.5" convertor ( with rubber ). For the fans i have used the 120mm s-flex 800rpm ( one blowing out back, one blowing out on top and one on the cpu ). Th...

Another one: SmartUPS 1400. Don't think they make them anymore. Relative quite under normal operating but the sound you hear is a high freq buzz. Interesting thing, when you have a direct path to the sound source, its ... livable. But when the sound is coming from a indirect path, its very annoying ...

Speed wise, the 280 is at the moment about the same league as the 9800GX2. Unless you are planning on running at resolutions of 2500 or higher, both are going to stick very close together. At the moment, the GTX280's massive bandwidth seems to go to wast. But, when it comes down to power consumption...

Samsung HD403LJ 3.2w idle power usage
After lurking in the shadows for a while on the forum here, its time to step into the light. After buying a nice little Energy meter, i was shocked at the amount of power my server ( 8 core, 8gb, 4.5TB ( 6 * 750 ) ) & my main pc ( e6600, Geforce 9800GX2, 4GB ) have been using ( 250w + 200w ) on idle...
