I like austinbike's suggestion. If I may extend his idea, it would be nice to see the testbed's performance and power consumption in two different scenarios. The first scenario corresponds to austinbike's suggestion where the testbed is acting as a mediaclient. In the second scenario, the testbed is...

Isn't the 780G NIC connected to the PCI-E bus, while the 630 NIC is connect to the PCI bus? That may be the reason for the 780G gbit performance then. I appreciate any tests made. For me, graphics is of less importance since my target application is a media server. It might be of interest for other ...

Thanks for your input nutball. From what I understand, the 780G has a idle power below 1 W. If that is true, it is understandable that there is not much power to be saved at idle. I still think it would be interesting to know the power savings possible under load for differenct IGP's. What could the...

Saving power by underclocking the IGP?

I have read several topics where people are trying to save power by underclocking and undervolting the CPU. But what about underclocking the IGP? Has anyone tried that? How much difference does it make in idle and under load? The Gigabyte 780G board for example, allows you to reduce the VGA core clo...

I have been looking forward to this review, thanks. How would the power consumption be affected if you would downclock the IGP? For a low power server, this would be very interesting to know. The bios of this board allows you to lower the VGA core clock from default 400 MHz to 200MHz. On the Gigabyt...
