Having read this I can tell you what an Accelero S1 (rev 2) is like on a Radeon HD 4850. Simply fantastic! Stock 'cooling' (heating might be a more appropriate name) left the card idling at 81C, load well in the 90's. Scary figures. And to make matters worse the load temperature was only achieved wi...

Not much of an endorsement for the scythe quiet drives then. Thanks for the feedback. Given that it's a fairly costly method of silencing (well at least compared to my couple of quids worth of elastic for the suspension) I think I might steer clear. At a guess putting some sound dampening material t...

Hmmm, but I don't have room to suspend it in my case given that it's already the size of a 5.25" bay, the largest available.

Enclosure vs. Suspension

I currently have 3 hard drives suspended in my case. This has reduced noise from the vibrations but I can still hear seek noises quite clearly unfortunately. This computer is used in a quiet room for work purposes and any noise is really quite irritating. With this in mind I'm considering purchasing...

I'm currently designing my HD suspension, currently it consists of lots of cable clips and many loops of elastic. I was considering having the lowest drive (which sits at the bottom of the case) just resting in position on 2 rubber strips but I think I may try your idea of using the packing foam stu...

There are 3 Yate Loon fans for sale at the bottom of this page: http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/home.php?cat=885&page=2 They have the 1350, 1650 and 2200 rpm models there. Quite a decent selection of other quiet fans too, notably the Scythe Kaze jyuni models and basic nexus spcr referen...

Ok, thanks blackworx! I'll be off to B&Q tomorrow morning then. Can't wait to get this set up. With the bungee cords is it easy to adjust the length? I guess it's just a case of undoing the knot at the end, cutting the cord, moving the hook and re-tieing it all. Despite what my not so helpful maplin...

This suspension set-up shows both the things I was trying to explain:

The copper/brass coloured hooks and the plastic p-clamp type things.

Currently got my HDD's on a cheap suspension using that tape like white elastic designed for clothing manafacture. I've been browsing the elastic suspension pics in one of the stickied threads and really want to do something more along the lines of the rounded thick elastic with p-clamps and hooks a...
