Expandability is however an issue :) I built a NUC server two weeks ago; it idles at 10W and I've yet to see a peak reach 20W. Pleased with it, but expandability is indeed an issue; if I were doing it again, I'd buy the board and put it in my own case, as there's absolutely no room inside the Intel...

What are the things you did to get to this power consumption. Are you doing undervolting? and what voltage? etc. Default settings in the BIOS, but with the Dynamic Energy Saver in Windows which undervolts automatically. I've got serial and parallel ports turned off, and on-board sound turned off to...

You probably have the SATA drives in legacy IDE mode. You need to turn on AHCI mode in the bios. The trouble is that once you do, WinXP won't boot again. Pretty much the only way to get AHCI working is to reinstall windows. Make sure you are in AHCI mode and you have a disk made for the SATA driver...
