Re: Seasonic Titanium PSUs

What windows setting? There is not even an OS installed on it yet :-). I am just sitting and about to install it. I didn't say they are not nice, but their fanless psu:s are not silent! And I am there with all new components, and I don't seem to be the only one. They were nice on the mail, but I can...

Re: Seasonic Titanium PSUs

Serously dude  :D I am sitting with bare bones mobo, only cpu + ram + 2x950Pro attached to it, not even connected to chassi. Coil whine starts 5 seconds after the mobo starts, it does not go even through the post. No overclock or anything special done :-). Gigabyte gaming 7 mobo in question, n...

Re: Seasonic Titanium PSUs

eI just got 520W fanless from seasonic (old model) and the unit is not silent. There is buzzing comming out of it (coil whine) that is louder then my Noctua DH15 (one fan only). The support guy from Seasonic I had mail correspondence with told me over mail that they were updated and should not resul...

Thanks for explanations. Is there any chance you could do it in a YT video,, with a demonstration before and after? Maybe someone could donate a noisy part, I could donate the silicone or whatever the paint thing is :). If you can convince somebody to do&upload the video, I'm all in; I even have th...

Re: Money, what else?

How do you apply it? Small paint brush (if coming in bottle; don't forget to get the remover/thinner), or directly from the spray can. Typical painting guide applies: apply a couple of thin layers instead of a thick one. Cover the problem part completely, especially between the part and the PCB(a s...

Opinions on Nanoxia Deep Silence 6

Has anyone tested this case? Thinking between this one and Fractal Design R2 XL. I like the looks and price of Fractal case more, but Nanoxia seems technically better case in regard to sound dampening.

Re: Money, what else?

Coil/capacitor whine is a relatively well studied phenomenon; it can be controlled during manufacturing phase(or later, with warranty issues) with RTV Silicone or conformal coating. But like any extra step during manufacturing, in the race to the bottom, the extra will be the first eliminated. Hi l...

Yeah, dudes, I am quite aware this is about silent PCs, and I promise I am the one who hates noise most of you all. All my PCs ever have been pretty much not audible while still (relatively) powerful machines when it comes to prestanda, and that long before there were such niceties as UEFI and curve...

Re: Need advice for mobo (raid 0 2x.M.2 + raid 1 4xhdd setup

I did some more research on both ASRock and Asus mobos and downloaded manuals. As I see it, Asus offers the usual control of fans as found on their gaming cards, with sliders curve controls etc just as ASRock does. I must say that Asus manual is much, much better looking and more professional than A...

Need advice for mobo (raid 0 2x.M.2 + raid 1 4xhdd setup)

Yesterday I happened to find 2 950s pro $60 below the price each; someone has returned them back, and it felt like an offer I can't refuse, so I am now owner of two of those expensive bubblegum sticks. Now I need to pair them with a competent mobo, which means probably something from z170 line, but ...

Question about coil whine

I still haven't purchased a new PSU, but I am still thinking about getting Seasonic fanless 520W unit. I did a research on Youtube and found few videos where people have recorded coil whine. I also found some discussion on the web where a person tried to RMA his PSU because of the noise it produced,...

Sorry, there is no 990Tii (at least I don't know of), it is going to be 980gtx ti from evga which does turn off it's fans based on temp. Those times I game I will anyway game with headphones, but usually I am not gaming, so most of the time it will not be so hot. Furthermore I plan on running X on b...

Re: Anyone tryed 2 psu setup with add2psu?

I have thoughts of getting two smaller fanless PSUs instead of one bigger. Seasonic 520W is enough for my needs, but I just wonder how abut 2x250 or 2x300, maybe there would be less stress on PSUs if work is divided between them, and thus less heat produced. It's just thoughts. For the system it is ...

Re: New Build Based On Quiet ATX Gamer

Why would you buy GTX 670 in year 2016? Unless you are migrating it from an old system of course. I don't see reason to go for 1TB evo disk either. 512 gig 950 Pro is more than enough for the OS and 1TB for storage and backup is probably not enough. Personally I would rather put in 2x3TB Sata HDDs a...

Just a crazy thought I had since long: is it possible to combine to low-power (silent) PSUs into one bigger? Are Seasonic 520W fanless PSUs still emiting coil whine?

I am into buyin one of those, but as I read few reviews I understand that many users have experienced their units to emit high pitch background noise. There is discussion about the issue in techpowerup review of the psu, as well as on youtube (recording provided), and as I understand even the unit s...

Re: Is 550W enough for i7 6700K + single GTX980Ti?

Point with fanless psu is to have one less fan. PSU fans are usually the most audible ones, at least they have been in the past. For the CPU it is going to be very low rpm, with big heat sink, either noctua dh14 or dh15. For the case it is eventually going to be very low rpm fans as well, if any. I ...

I am in process of building a new machine and am tempted to try a fanless PSU. I am looking at Enermax Digifanless 550W, and wonder if it is going to be enough? I don't plan to put in 2nd (or 3rd and 4th) graphic card in, ever, so it is mostly cpu + gpu load. I am going with 32Gig ram + 2 M.2 drives...
