I picked up a Gateway EC1803 w/ Core 2 Solo SU 3500 from futureshop. I was looking for a 'netbook' mainly for travelling, surfing the web around the house, some office stuff. Wasn't really interested in the atom processor based netbooks. Wanted a 10-11 inch screen. Didn't want to spend $2000 on a hi...

Hi Lee I'm not sure what to tell you at this point. I had a look at your pictures and it appears everything is hooked up correctly. My first guess is that there is a problem w/ the motherboard if you get no post w/ 2 different power supplies. I assume that you have the 'reset sw' from the psile case...

Hi I used the reset button as the power on/off at the back of the case. I can't remember if I had to modify the cable - 2 pin spaced as a 3 pin...but I will look at it when I get home. If you have an old case/power supply you may wish to plug those into the MB and make sure it actually powers up. Wh...

Thanks, maybe 2 fans are a better way to go and quieter. By the way did you end up using those fan rails in the Psile case? I didn't end up using the rails. Played with them but they were too finicky and with a large cpu cooler they are not needed/get in the way. I just screwed the fan right into t...

It may seem rather strange but I consider between these two MoBos for a small and silent PC. Of course MSI is much more expensive and requires Socket P CPU - again much more expensive than, say, E7200 or E8200. But for me the crucial thing is the ability to disable the on-board Intel GMA chip and i...

Hey Greg, How's it going? that's what I was thinking also, the 120W or 150W picoPSU should be good enough for a media server, nas, etc. Especially looking at some current laptops, the majority seem to consume around 65-120 watts with the exception of a few gaming laptops. May be I need to go with 2...

Hey gtquan, Thanks for the info Smile I'm still in the process of sourcing parts and was worried the 110 watt picoPSU may not provide enough power. The system I'm building is intended to run as a backup/media server only no games, hopefully the IGP can handle that. So in total you have 3 fans insta...

Greg, Hope you can clear up a few things as I've ordered almost all the parts to make a build very similar to yours as well: 1) In your original post, I thought you are using a 92mm case fan? Did you change that to two 60mm case fans now? Are you still using the Ninja mini passively to cool the CPU...

Hi gtquan, Great looking setup, I'm also planning on building a little computer with the Psile case, that's if I can get over the price Wink I too live in Toronto so I guess I'll have to order from Cool Tech as well. I have a few questions, maybe you can help me out: - Are there other options for t...

Not sure of any way to integrate an IR receiver in this case. I've never modded a case for this. I guess you could drill a hole in the aluminum in front. I installed a passively cooled radeon 4830 as it was cheap. Defeats the purpose of the 780G and takes up the PCIe slot. System seems to run cooler...

There is only one PCI express slot so you wont be able to add both a TV tuner card and a wireless adapter. You can buy external USB verson of both components though. I'm not convinced I have the ideal heatsink for this case. I've seen pictures and reviews of mini itx builds in this case with a small...

Well I just found out that a Scythe Shuriken will not fit on the J&W Minix 780G-SP128MB if you use both two So-Dimm memory slots. Great. Any suggestions on a alternative cpu cooler for this board i.c.m with a Psile case? Scythe ninja mini will fit the Psile case w/ some mods. You need to remove the...

Has anyone else had problems with their system 'crashing'? Infrequently my screen goes black when I insert a disc, attach a USB device of bump the cover. I get the impression the OS is still active as I here things loading up when the disc or USD device starts - just the screen goes blank. Have to d...

Great pictures!! Thank you for uploading. Very Happy How are your temps now? Do you think 1 case fan and for example a Scythe SCSK-1000 Shuriken will have good temps and is just as silent? Because this mod is a bit extreme for me. Wink The CPU is at 42C, System temp 37. Northbridge temp 55c. I don'...

I am also building a system with the same components. But Only with the AMD X2 5050e. Also I would very much like the idea of a Scyte Ninja Mini (And try to fit a Scythe KAZE JYU SLIM 100x100x12mm fan) I am measuring like crazy but cannot find the space for it. I am a cm short. Did you remove the f...

Can i ask how tall is the chipset heatsink? I don't want to put that 40mm fan on, if it's just as tall as the 1U CPU heatsink, maybe i can make a contraption of some kind that a Scythe KAZE JYU SLIM 100x100x12mm fan that would stretch and cover both. It's not very tall - I think about 2 cm. Maybe 2...

Looks like it's exactly the same except the colour of the heatsinks. Organized my wiring a bit better. I was able to get the 20 pin picopsu in place without the 24 pin adaptor. The yellow 'transformers?' (not sure what they are) do rest on the plastic connector of the IDE cable. I've had some crashe...
