Optical drives work fine with the case on it's side. The trays are built to hold a disc even when it's vertical. It's a little unsettling the first time but it works.doveman wrote:Perhaps if I'm not fitting any optical drives I could even lay the tower on it's side

Re: HOWTO: Disable Seagate DM001 APM Head Parking *Permanent
Thank you for this FunkyRider! This seems to have fixed the incredibly annoying chirp click spindown noises I was getting from my ST3000DM001 drives. The Device Configuration Overlay menu was locked and I couldn't change anything in there but it still seems to have saved the settings. jean019 - did ...

Thanks for the info. I booted using a different drive with Windows XP and ran HD Tune again and got the following: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1971/hdtuneshot.png That got ride of the dips in the transfer rate from when other programs accessed the HD but the access time is still nearly twice wh...

1.5 TB Samsung EcoGreen F2 HD154UI Slow Access Times

The average access times are in the high twenty millisecond range: http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/8943/hd154uiaccesstimes.png Are there any settings I can look at changing or driver updates that could correct this? Or should I return it f...

I was looking at that P35 Gigabyte but it isn't in stock right now. They have the P45 one for about the same price after a rebate. Is the heat of the P45 really an issue? Thanks for the tip on the E5200. We'll go with that CPU. The Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2 would be great but it's lacking a Coax S/PDIF o...

Office / HTPC PC Questions - Budget MB Recommendation Needed
I'm working on a computer for my brother that will be primarily used in his office. The most strenuous things it will be doing is editing home movies from an HD camcorder. He would also like it to hook it up to his HDTV in another room and use it as an HTPC. Here's what I'm currently looking at: - C...

Quite Card for HTPC and Gaming at 1920x1200
I'm looking for a card to replace my 7900GT that I have in a Antec NSK2400 case. The computer is used for streaming TV shows and watching OTA HD broadcasts on my projector and playing games at 1920x1200 on a 24" monitor. I don't play all the most current games out there but the 7900GT isn't cutting ...
