Re: Seagate's 10TB HDDs

Have owned six WD80EFRX (though only two were in my system - the others are in My Book Duos). Sold one in the process of upgrading to the 10-12TB drives, which I regret as my main rig will be returning to a three HDD configuration at some point - consisting of WD80EFRX. My original comments on that...

Hi khaakon, Thanks for posting, I appreciate your comments. When I find any information that I think others may be able to benefit from, as in the xbitlabs articles I linked to, I will always share it. I like helping others, and that's what forums are for. :) I'm glad you found the one about the CPU...

Re: HTPC build help

Hi CA_Steve, Thanks for the edit. CPU: I've been reading what I can find on them, and you are right, the I5 is the way to go. I came across this article written by Ilya Gavrichenkov at: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-4670s-4670t_3.html#sect0 Here is a quote from the article: "A...

HTPC build help

[moderator: moved post to it's own thread] I have to admit, the Z97-PRO is an extremely nice board. I'm in the process of picking parts for a new build, and I'll be buying the parts within a week. I already got the SSD, a Crucial MX100 512GB. I still need to get a big video storage drive, maybe a 4...

Intel DG45FC MOBO set-up

Well, I did it. I got the Intel DG45FC MOBO, an E7300 CPU (if I rember right, at the time it was either the same price or cheaper than the E7200) and 4GB of Crucial RAM, a picoPSU 120 with the 8.5A AC/DC PS , a Hitachi Travelstar 7K320-160 HTS723216L9A360 2.5" 160 GB HDD, the HP Slimline case and a ...

I am interested in the Intel CPU stepping charts, and any information about Intel CPU stepping. If you have any links or information, I will be grateful for your help. My vote is with Kreed and Strid. The NSK3480 is a nice sized case, but it is too narrow for the big tower coolers. This fact and that there are no suspended HDD mounts built into the case is the reason I passed on the NSK3480 and went with the Solo instead. QuietOC brings up another good point, alon...

elendil850, Have you purchased a new HSF Yet? If you are still understandably worried about northbridge temps, then you might look at the Noctua NH-C12P reviewed here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article846-page1.html According to Lawrence Lee, this is the best top-down cooler there currently is. ...

Clear PSU baffle in the NSK2480/Fusion

yamahaSHO, I noticed in the pic of your NSK2480/Fusion that there is a clear PSU baffle in there. Is that a stock feature, or is that a mod of yours? Mike, I checked out your link to the Universal Thermal Chassis, thanks. In the specs, it does list the dual core Atom (Intel D945GCLF 2) as one of the accepted boards, which is good. elendil850, I'm glad you liked my input, as I like to be of help. You have an excellent MOBO, one that I hope to put inside this SOLO case before too long. Go ahead and read Ralf Hutter's review of the Antec P150/Solo, and then go ahead and get the Solo. You can't beat the built-in HDD suspension system and better HDD cooling. I recently replaced the Antec SLK3700BQE case which has the same HDD mounting system as the Sonata III, and yes, there is a big...

You would be much better off with the Antec SOLO case, or the Sonata Plus 550 if you want a PSU pre-installed. I have the Antec SLK3700BQE which is extremely similar to the Sonata III 500, as in it uses the same HDD mounting system, and believe me when I say it transmits the HDD noise to the case, a...

Biggest reason that I want a blow-down cooler is my motherboard (ASUS P5N7A-VM) has a northbridge that runs pretty warm, and I would like to get a little extra airflow over it if possible. fwki, thanks for the links. The Morex t3500b pro has got to be one of the best looking cases I have ever seen, but there isn't any room for PCI expansion slots, plus it is passively cooled which might not work. The SUGO SG05 has much more room, plus has the PCI expansion slots. However, I'd be afrai...

Mike, I took a look at the Shuttle case on eBay you pointed out. This might be a viable option. Do you know if this case will align with the m-ITX form factor MOBO? The Intel DG45FC has one PCI Express* x1 bus add-in card connector, so this case should allow the use of it if it aligns with the expan...

Mike, I agree that most tiny cases are designed just to be tiny. I have the feeling that eventually there is going to be a market for m-ITX systems in main stream computing, especially if we see more m-ITX MOBOs like Intel's DG45FC. After all, Dell sells some very small PCs. Now is what we need is a...

best thing you can do is what MikeC did when he was doing the custom built antec solo systems. Air naturally flows from the front intake through the PS...

Best Cases for the Intel DG45FC M-ITX MOBO?

I am very interested in building a PC using the Intel DG45FC MOBO. I plan on using all internal components (HDD, optical drive[slim style is fine if needed], etc). Even if one didn't want the mesh grills for air flow, this really dresses up the SOLO very nicely. I think I will order a couple of these for mine. Also, great job on your fan project.

Thanks for the pics. I have looked at the SG01 on their web site, and was curious about it. Comparing it to an Antec NSK3480 puts it well into perspective.
