Good HTPC related info here: http://www.htpcnews.com/forums/index.php

There are a few threads that refer back here to SPCR as well.

Hope this helps.

Some Socket 939 Micro-ATX MB's have reasonable IGP solutions: Asus A8N-VM CSM (Nvidia) Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 (Nvidia) MSI RS482M4-ILD (ATI) That is of course if top of the line gaming isn't a priority. With that case, I think you are stuck with AGP on a riser card if an IGP is not viable. Lot's of ...

Sorry 'bout that - we've gotten into a discussion about TV cards and associated software. I'll clear this up - my Hauppauge card(s) are existing - and my software of choice is BeyondTV. I am extremely happy and see no reason to change anything. I have 2 cards, an older 250 and a newer 150. Since the...

Getting down to some final decisions - advice desired

It's time to move my Sonata XP2500 Rig down to the video room to assume the role of HTPC. Have already tested it out and looks pretty good driving my SONY 42" HDTV via component. So I'm going to build a new system and have a few decisions to make - any opinions or suggestions that can be shared woul...

I almost always encourage "friends and family" to buy Dells. My wife has had her's for 3 years, and it's almost never shut off - very quiet as well. It's not as quiet as my rig (see sig) but it's close. My dad, my brother in law, my father in law, my wifes best friend - etc. all have Dells. All are ...

Re: Comments on Antec Sonata installs and mods

---snip--- The feet are too short for sitting on carpet. You can feel the air sucking from under the front bezel if you push the case back. By raising the systems above the carpet, the fans ramp down a little bit for some added quietness. I don't want my nice looking Sonatas sitting on boxes so I'm...

OK zalman ZM80C plus an OP1 (set for 5V) fan in place. My general impressions are that it's quieter, but certainly couldn't be considered silent. The case temp appears to have gone down 2C, but the CPU has gone up 2C. I think the fan is disrupting the airflow on my SLK800. Haven't done anything to r...

The thread that goes on and on... Just installed a Logitech Cordless MX duo - much quieter than my previous Logitech Internet KB and optical mouse. I've heard more bad things about Powercolor than any other Radeon product. Personally, I'm just on my way out to pick up a 9800 Pro. I'll decide at the store(s) when I see the bundle - the ATI, the Sapphire and the Gigabyte are all within $20 Canadian of each other, and when you are already at $500,...

I had the same thing about 18 months ago with an old Powerman PSU that came with my Inwin Q500. I had no idea where that noise was coming from.

The fan started to go, and after I replaced the PSU, I noticed the difference right away.

Nothing wrong with Dell's. I just bought one for my father - he lives 300 KM away, and I really don't have the time to be his help desk (I wish I did...) so the warranty and 7x24 support helps me too. Also, we run them at work and they're solid and quiet. Me, I'm still building machines for myself, ...

Great - looks really good and the temps sound like what I am looking for. I'm not sure I'll do the SLK-900u or not, was kind of thinking a Zalman 7000 (my brother has one on his P4pE /2.53 rig) and it's rather, shall we say - impressive. 8) What would you say is the loudest part of your setup? Re Antec Pics

Pics are nice...now how about some thoughts about your rig.

Numbers would be nice too! :)

I'm currently looking at either:
  • Sonata
    SLK3700
    1080AMG
Can't make up my mind.
TIA,

Good board!
