Re: Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 very silent and not even vapor-x

Just updated my Sapphire Ultimate HD 4670 to Sapphire HD 6850. Wow, what a card! I have AMD 4850e with Gigabyte 780g mainboard and it's now the weakest link in my htpc. But with 4670 the idle power usage was 63W and with 6850 it's 62W! Amazing. Max power usage with 3dmark06 was 186W but as said 4860...

Re: Did people abandon watercooling for their silent PCs ?

I'm still using watercooling. My system has now been running for a couple of years and I haven't upgraded my components so I'm in no need for changing something that works. Oh, last year I was 6 months away and stuff in a warehouse, after that had to change the pump. Zalman Reserator, AMD 4850e CPU,...

All of the clocks were stock in the tests (750 GPU/800 memory, except idle which is 250 GPU/800 memory). Both idle and load temperatures are way higher than I expected. With stock clocks you got 88W idle, and earlier you said changing the memory clock 800->400 reduced 8w, so with reduced memory clo...

Joseph, what was gpu/ram clocks in that test? I never had the tweak my 4670 bios to get lower voltages. I just created new CCC-profile with the tweaked values and applied the profile once, and the values are now automatically set without the profile. If somebody could get the idle comsumption to 15W...

Just installed Zalman water block Zm-gwb3 for my Sapphire 4670. Passive cooling with Reserator 1. Changed the waters at the same time, although there seemed to be nothing wrong with the earlier water even it has been used for two years now. Water cooling is actually quite easy. The idle temps are no...

It seems that the only card capable of 3-4W idle power was the ATI reference card. Samsung couple of years ago produced first batch of better quality monitors for reviewers and later they added more lcd factories into producing the 'same' monitor but with lower quality. One way of preventing this is...

TheSilentOne: Very interesting post. That would make sense, that Bios values are just the base for driver settings. Did you check if your Sapphire cards then goes to 0.9V in idle? I also seems that the setting stay on after reboot even if you don't apply the profile. I don't have any means to check...

I don't know how many of you know this, but you don't have the flash the bios to check if the GPU/MEM clocks work. Easiest way is to use the CCC profiles. You can't set the right values from CCC, but you can edit the profile files with text editor. It seems I can't attach files here so I just print ...

I have a DC clamp meter, so I can measure the DC idle power, but I'm not doing it before I get a waterblock for this card. Does anyone know if the Zalman waterblock for 3850/3870 card is ok for 4670? http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=286 Vicotnik's idle power dropped -3W when ...
