Three pin usually means an RPM sensor wire. This allows you to connect the fan to a motherboard header. However, most Panaflos don't have an RPM reading capability. I assume you are refering to a Fanmate; made by Zalman - allows you to adjust voltage to the fan. (Lower voltage = lower fan speed = le...

Summer Temps

Reporting In:

Summer is just about here at 49 north. Ambient at 24 C, and my system shows the following:

Temp Probes:
Case 27.7
CPU 38
RAM 32

MBM reports:

MoBo 37
Samsung 25
Seagate 36

Methinks the Antec P160 with a single 120mm exhaust is doing just fine.

I don't know if this will help or not. The grommets are like a "Cheerio" (ceral breakfast food, not your 'goodbye') with a groove set into the outside circumference. The grommet is wiggled into position in the hole through which you would normally install the screw to hold the fan. The nylon bolt pa...

Ralf has got it right. Flat cables tucked up to the case side via 'cable oragami' will reduce any impedence to air flow through the central portions of the case. If rounded cables could be 'flattened' against the back of the case, similar results could be realized. However, trying to flatten rounded...

As an alternative solution: I mounted a 120 mm EverCool Al fan to the rear of my case using a combo of rubber grommets and nylon bolts/nuts. The fan frame is 25 mm thick, so a typical 'ear' mount would not work. The procedure involved drilling oversized case holes to accept the grommets. End result:...

I agree with Loren_Brothers; as an aside, as I built my P160 system, I installed an Antec NoiseKiller silicon 'gasket' and placed two of the silicon washers on the single rail. I am using a Zalman 300A PSU, and there is no case vibration whatsoever.

Samsungs are notorious for temp readings. At present, mine is reading 25 degrees C. Usually it sits at 18. This is with an ambient of 23.2, case temp at 27.0.

There was an earlier thread about this; give the forum a good search and you may pick it up.

4 case fans? You mentioned a radiator so I am assuming you are water-cooling.

Many of us at SPCR use just one case fan. The other two fans in the system include the CPU and the PSU.

Post some more specs, and I am sure SPCR members will respond post haste.

Welcome to SPCR! Yes, rubber grommets are the best route to go other than silicon based isolators. But, there is a bit of difference between rubber grommets and rubber washers. Grommets are the most effective as they isolate mounting screws from the case; washers will not. To effectively seat a grom...

How about the 'finger stuck in ear' approach? Kind of crude, but I must agree with the previous post: it is hard to symbolize a computer that is quiet. Welcome to SPCR! Most claim the Sonata is a quieter case as the P160 has a larger front opening allowing more noise to escape. Having said that, I have a P160. It is dampened using close-cell foam and runs a single 120mm exhaust (EverCool @ 5V, 1068 rpm). It is to my ear, very quiet. I have a ti4200...

I would suggest looking for a pre-cut kit, such as those offered by Techflex. These kits come with appropriate lengths of different diameter size to completely sleeve a standard system.

For specific sizes 'google' for pre-cut kits and make note of the content of a standard package.
