Re: Can't get CPU fan below 1000 rpm on Asus P7H61-M LE
The fan is set to silent in EFI, but it still runs at 1000 rpm. Is this the lowest it'll go? Same thing with Asrock H61M-GS EFI's and a Freezer7 pro. It spins as low as 950rpm at idle, even if the same PWM fan would spin lower on an Asus skt775 board (I don't remember the exact value, but it was in...

Re: Radeon 7770 idle voltage with >1 monitor
I notice that there's a thread about the same issue with nVidia cards below, but maybe it's still worth posting this, since AMD cards behave slightly differently... I recently purchased an XFX Radeon HD 7770 (nice quiet card, btw), since it seemed to offer excellent performance per watt. And indeed...

I love my BQT E7-400W, it does its job, it's inaudible, and I guess nowadays it's priced under 50eur.

Re: HDD vibration & noise reducing methods - ranked
Eh - Plastic screwless rails as used in some cases After having swapped my OS HDD with an SSD, I can clearly hear the annoying noise coming from my HD503HI storage disk. I've always wondered what if my Thermaltake V9000A plastic rails had foam stripes on their external sides. I guess that the vibra...

Re: Sapphire HD 7750 Ultimate Edition
Edit: Without the HD7750, the system idles at 24.2-24.5W with the screen on and 21.0-21.2W off. This doesn't seem to change. I wonder if the integrated GPU is sometimes still active with the HD7750 installed? On my H61 board (HD5670), IGP is disabled. However, HWMonitor shows a constant 0.06w IGP p...

I already tried that with my 5670 months ago, and I discovered that my power consupmtion didn't change even at 0.9v in 3d mode. Don't ask me why... I guess it's a bug in ATT.

Re: Advice on new 1155 build
Hi there, I wrote a thread after I built it ( link ), reporting some power consumption data... speaking in general I saw a 20w drop at idle and up to 40w under full load, compared to the older e5200 build. -100mV undervolt is all I could do, and it helps saving some 3/4w in idle, and about 7w under ...

Re: Tips on this new i3 build?
@Abula I need to try with the IGP and see what happens. I even undervolted my ram from 1.5v to 1.35v... The PSU is probably inefficient at idle. How efficient can an old Bequiet be? If it's 60% efficient at 10% load, 38W DC would get you 64W AC. The gfx card may not idle at 13W. What's the source fo...

"Eco" low voltage DDR3 ram: is it worth it?
I was wondering if anybody did any power consumption test with a couple of classic 2x2GB DDR3 1333/1600mhz 1.5v sticks, and a couple of "green" 1.35v ones. Was the power draw difference significant?
I'd bet no more than 2 or 3W, but that's just an impression.

Re: Samsung HD503HI Very Silent... But slow... what's wron
The second screenshoot seems like one of those I made years ago when I bought the drive. Your different HDtune benchmark makes me think that either the drivers or the sata controller is slowing down your HDD (maybe I'd also check if the BIOS is updated). I have a P43 (ICH10) chipset and the benchmar...

It's curious to see how Murdoch's newscast in Italy (Sky News) is among the best ones. There aren't any distorted point of views, Perhaps it is a less crowded market segment in Italy? I don't know the exact reason, but I'd say that it's quite crowded, with at least 10 different national newscasts a...

I don't think so, sounds like it will be heavier than a motorbike (maybe unless it's made of balsa wood), so a motorbike engine won't do the trick, but its shape is interesting and it was worth a post.

Re: Does Sapphire 5670 realy idle to ~8W, like 4670?
I have the Powercolor version. The 3d voltage is 1.1 (instead of yours 1.15) BUT I couldn't manage to downvolt it (how did you do?), and 2d voltage is 0.9. By the way, I lowered the idle power consumption a bit by going down to 130/212, which is enough for h264 HDTV gpu acceleration and PS5. Lower f...

Re: Why do the French have so many Strikes.?
This question would ideally be answered by a Frenchman. In England whenever we turn on the news and see that there is a massive strike going on in France, we usually ask only 2 questions, "will it affect us" (like many of them do, on purpose I might add), and "why". Most of us dont really care why,...
