It really isn't hard to replace the fans which come with 120mm fan PSU's and CPU coolers. You don't have to use the fan which comes with them. Swapping the stock fan for something better is standard SPCR practice. Yes, I just did that on my own PSU, but you lose the warranty then. I would also have...

I didnt read everyones post but my first thought is this: Passive PSU, Passive Ninja passive this passive that but then you throw in 4 case fans....:S Im not sure maybe I am missing something. Also 3.8ghz passive... You're missing that you can buy separate fans making no sound. For some reason, the...

Hey donart, is the tagan pretty quite too compared to your corsair vx (without your mod of the fan that is) ? I think i'm going to get rid of this enermad modu 425w psu because it is actually not quiet at all. After searching spcr a lot last night, it turns out that 425 is the only one that is not ...

Hey donart! That is a really good set up that you have there especially with the mod for pushing the air OUT the psu. I was wondering though, what if you put another fan above the DVD drive you have there pushing air out and use a duct between the cpu cooler and the case. I'm thinking that this way...

I got my tagan superrock yesterday, and most of the sound from the psu dissapeared. Ther's still some high pitched sound left though, but it seem to come from the motherboard, and it's also a constant sound so it's not that annoying. The Tagan superrock PSU was also more quiet than corsair vx450, at...

Yes, you definitely need to swap fan on the vx450. I don't have much experience with various types of PSU's, but I it's not exactly "ultra quiet". No problem hearing it 3 meters away.

It might be weird, but it's also very common. Just check out the forums here at silentpcreview for example. Oh, and I'm ordering a tagan superrock, which was measured as being the most silent psu at anandtech. Hopefully that'll solve the problem. Now we can only hope and prey those postage people wo...

Same problem here, with a new Corsair VX450, just much worse than you.

Any activity, reading from harddisk or moving the mouse, makes the power supply whine out ugly high frequency sounds.

Seems like "Silverstone Element" and "Tagan SuperRock" takes a complete knock-out on all the other PSU's regarding being silent. That's really interesting. Anyone tried any of those two PSU's? I'm tempted to buy a tagan superrock, it's not very expensive either, and it's gotten good reviews other pl...
