Re: Recommended Heatsinks updated
+1 for update! No AM3,3+ or 1155, which have been with us for two years? For such a renown site it's pretty bad ; ) For me it feels like this site is mostly kept going by the forum community. I wish I could get more editorial content. For example, fan/HS roundups like there used to be would be aweso...

v7 GPU client is not dl'ing new WU's
Hi, I am just starting to fold and have a slight problem. The client v7.1.50 does not download a new WU when the previous one is completed. It keeps trying to connect and the log shows error connecting to server HTTP_UNKNOWN. I have created a rule in firewall for f@h. I'm using a wireless router, wh...

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey
...And then I installed Crysis. :D It looks like this game is much more demanding, so it kept hanging during intense scenes at 850MHz and 1.0125 V. Fortunately, Afterburner still can control the voltage (up to 1.143 V), but it looks like stock voltage setting may be more realistic than I thought. S...

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey
I also have the problem that MSI afterburner has a message every time I boot up and I have to click to approve the program to Windows. I haven't been able to figure out how to keep this message from popping up all the time. Fiddling around in User Account Control may help, as well as unchecking a l...

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey
Nope, I use MSI Afterburner. I'm not sure about undervolting, but for overclocking you need to modify MSIAfteburner.cfg as follows: UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it Unoffi...

Donated another 15$ for a 140mm fan round-up. I have long itched to read such a comparison on SPCR : )

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey
I came across this thread a couple days ago, and found it really informative. I think it's worth a bump : ) My Sapphire 6850 undervolted to a stable (no OCCT GPU errors) 0.968, with 775/1050. Under load it sits on 73*C, and the fan spins @43%, which is about 1900RPMs - quiet enough for me. Memory cl...

nah, I reckon it's a Gigabyte's 4850 - see that weird protruding thingy at the side?Modo wrote:Well, somebody is already using it. I found a pic in a rig on a Polish board. The case is a Lian Li PC-X500, the PSU is a Seasonic X-460. It was taken before the system was complete, I think.

I found it under Thermaltake brand, but it looks sooooo much worse : / But still, given the price point it'll be worth considering.

I must've overlooked this one! It may be nearly perfect for my needs : ) Thanks a lot, now off to find someone who actually used this case (and a vendor in Poland...).

Recommended HTPC/NAS case? (>=2 hdd bays, pico powered)
Hi, I'm intending to build a HTPC doubling up as a NAS and cannot find a small, nice-looking case for it. I need at least 2 HDD bays and one for optical drive. PicoPSU is highly preferred. Mobo will be embedded AMD E-350, so I don't need space for an aftermarket HS. I've considered Lian Li PC07, but...

140mm fan for Antec 300 - need advice!
Hi guys! I am about to upgrade my case to Antec Three Hundred and try find a replacement fan for the not-so -silent Antec's TriCool 140mm. One of the serious contenders is Noiseblocker's BlackSilent XK1 140mm Here are its specs: http://www.cooling.pl/noise-blocker-blacksilent-xk1-140mm,produkt,55196...

Undervolting (AiGear) - how much power does it really save?
I'm using ASUS M3N-Ht Dlx motherboard with AMD x2 4200+ (65W) The board features an utility (AiGear) to lower the voltage of the CPU. The max attainable difference is 0,08 V - how much does it reduce power consumption? Is it worth using? I have no idea about physics, so any help with explaining this...

As you have a PCI x16 slot, you can have virtually any GPU : ) If your current card is capable of driving your new LCD though, I think it would be best to hold off new system's purchase. 2H 2009 Lynnfield ('i5') is being released, so it's bound to result in a nice price drop. Good luck with keeping ...

You're right, I have overcome this problem : ) All it needed was finding a PCI-e x1 wifi card! now GPU occupies the first PCI-E slot, sound card is in 2nd PCI, wifi will be in PCI-E x1 and it's all nice & neat : D Most pro music cards are still on PCI. If you're interested in ATX format I can recommend first hand Asus M3N-HT/HDMI. From a week's usage experience i can tell it's good - full SpeedFan control over at least 3 headers and nice passive cooling, loads of expansion slots. It's also supposed to undervolt/overclock really well, but I haven't...

Akasa AK-191-BL Ultra Quiet Series - anybody knows anything?
I found one at a bargain price and was wandering how'd they fare. I'd really appreciate any info on their noise & airflow characteristics - can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks!

Re: VelociRaptor or SSD?
I will definitely go for a Vertex once they settle in the market for good. With the stuttering gone I think I can deal with making a backup every now and than for the sake of performance. Maybe you know it already, but Titan != Vertex, it doesn't have cache. It's a RAID of 2 JMicrons, just like Apex...

That kind of policy is hard to explain, especially with energy saving being so important lately... I've already decided to wait for Phenom II, I wonder how will it do temperaturewise compared to my current CPU. And Xigmatek's HDT-S963 w/Nexus fan is the HSF of choice, I'll probably get it by the nex...
