Xeon processors (the X55xx series) have the same performance as Core i7 on every application, but with a few advantages : I7 doesn`t have 2 QPIs, just one, that`s why you cannot put 2 i7s on the same mobo. They have a much lower TDP, 95W vs 130W, this will help with the silencing a lot. A Mugen 2 co...

Lower level BIOS/OS underclocking/undervolting and fan control? You mean Intel Speed Step/EIST and AMD Cool and Quiet ? That`s what SpeedStep does, undervolts your CPU and turns down the multiplier when the sistem is idle or on a very light load (surfing the "internets: etc.) And the fans are autom...

Way to file a patent for something people have already been doing for a decade. The sad part is that it'll probably get approved despite the obvious proof (SPCR, for example) that this is an old idea. These patents are loosely based on characterization of noise and user interaction, but they are qu...

And, have you asked about silencing the video card? that's a powerful card, a great one, just not commonly silenced. There is a separate forum for each of your it...

You cannot control non-PWM fans with the PWM controller, you need PWM compatible fans like the models from Arctic Cooling & Nexus & Scythe. Your fans are all regular fans that can be controlled only via voltage (the 3 pin normal headers on the motherboard, the 4 pin header is for PWM). I was in the ...

PS: We have Dell Precision workstations (were i work), and even those are silent when idle or at half-load, they only turn up there fans under heavy load (and become noisy), so companies like HP or Dell have thermal management and temperature controlled fans. But there are also Dells and HPs that a...

Lol, the Mac Pro has STOCK heatsinks on the GPU, and both Nvidia and Ati stock heatsinks are loud under load. The same aplies for the hardmounted hard drives. Good job Crapple at pateting things people here on SPCR have been doing for the last couple of years. GG  PS: We have Dell Precision wor...

Uhuu, go Apple, good job on pateting things people on SPCR have been doing for the last couple of years i.e. making their computers quiet. Controlling your computers noise level? I`ve been doing that with my PWM controlled fans for the last 2 years and deciding how loud or silent my PC can be, in an...

If you keep your components below the max temperatures provided by the component manufacturer, you are fine. I doesn`t matter if you have 35 or 55 degrees under load on your cores for exemple, as long as Intels specification state that the max core temp is 70 degrees (or something like that, you can...

PWM fan RPM reading problem
Hy fellow silent freaks, i just bought 3 Arctic Cooling PWM fans, 2 120mm and one 92mm. The fans seem to work fine but i have a problem with the RPM readings. After i restart my computer i get a "fan error" message. I go into the BIOS -> hardware monitoring, and surprise, the rmp readings are totaly...
