Re: Is it possible to get POWER and silence?

If it helps, I'll be using premiere and photoshop to create/edit and manage videos. Does anyone know how core aware Adobe products are? My, limited, understanding was that they are core aware. I didn't make myself clear in my OP. I'm NOT tied to AMD I've just always used 'em. From whatI've been advi...

Re: Is it possible to get POWER and silence?

Some sound advice people and I thank you one and all.
As for doing what the pros do, I have to sit with it in my home so if I put it in another room I'd get even more noise - in my ears!!! :?

Re: Is it possible to get POWER and silence?

I do realise it's not going to be cheap but, if all works out, money will not be the issue. I currently have an Antec Solo case (slightly modified) with 7 HDs in all with each suspended by bungie cord so the only sound one really hears if I listen hard is them spinning up and then the seek clicks on...

Is it possible to get POWER and silence?

I'm looking to build a PC that will do anything I can throw at it. It will be a minimum of dual monitor, maybe three, have at least 6 HDs, and be required to do complex 3d rendering and video editing work so teh last thing I want to do is have to sit in front of the blessed thing watching the egg ti...

Just google Farnell and then on their site look for SATA power. you'll be presented with a bunch of options and pictures and pick what you want.

Did find some actually. Farnells sell them - 4 & 5 pin with 500mm flying leads - at a very good price.

SATA cables

Hi I'm looking to modularise my PSU. That bit I'm fine with. To make it work however I need a source of sata power connectors already connected to cables of a decent length (e.g. 500mm) or just a source of the sata power connnectors themselves so I can solder them all up. Can anyone point me in the ...

IF however you want quiet drives, suspension is the only way - apart from total immersion.

Hi Pierre In order to make any objective comments about your individual set-up you'll need to post a few pictures. Then we'll be able to give some more explicit and specific advice. With regard to suspending HDDs. Like you. I too was extremely sceptical at first. I tried every method of mounting exc...

Unfortunately they only have the Ultra 120 Extreme for an AMD cpu and that doesn't perform as well at low air flows.

what about the height from the base of the mobo mounting plate? That is typically 8-10mm. Sounds like it too close to me and besides, if it is very close where would the heat go? They need romm above, to 'breath' (heat to dissapate)

Hi Pierre Firstly, if you are going to encase a shed load of hard drives you need to consider their cooling. As has already been explained, unless you go for an expensive case then you are unlikely to get it really quiet out of the box. My advice, for what its worth, is to look for a case that has l...

HR-01 Plus equiv/replacement on vert mounted mobo?

Need some advice please. My pc sits just 30cm from my right rear and is quiet enough that typing is much noisier than the system - even with 5 fans and 6 hard drives squeezed into an Antec Solo  However, I've decided that I'd like a tower CPU cooler to rid myself of the CPU fan. I have enou...

The temp sensing can be set very simply and is far more reliable than flow sensing. All you need is a 'strap on' temp sensor and a relay so that when the sensor 'trips' is cannot come back on by itself. By using one of these you also do not introduce prospective leaks and flow restrictions.

Mark Firstly, it is possible to slow down the pump and that would along with the damper feet make a difference. The 'secret' is to ensure that an appropriate delta T is taking place i.e. that the correct temperature drop is occuring between the flows and returns. The setup will have a point at which...
