Re: Best fans for my corsair 550d silent pc build

replaced the stock fans with five gentle typhoon 1850 @ ~900rpm with "KAZE MASTER Pro Ace" Fan Controller. The machine now runs much quieter than before! I haven't done any measurements yet, but seems the GT generates more air flow than my old slip steams. (NB, Nexus, TR fans are very hard to find i...

Re: Best fans for my corsair 550d silent pc build

I also got a 550D today, and planning to replace the fans. However, I have an older motherboard, and thus gonna need a PWM controller. Anyways, shall I get the PWM controller + 4xThermalright TY-140?? They are for intakes from the 1x bottom, 2x front and 1x exhaust at the rear. Ideas? or are there a...

Fractal Designs mATX cases not available here; alternatives?

So I'm from Hong kong, and FD cases are not available here.

I was looking at the Arc Mini or Define Mini, and now I need some alternatives - any suggestions? Looks like the TJ08 is a popular choice here.

I need at least 5HD slots, and will fit a 660Ti in it...

Re: A powerful, quiet display card for mATX with Define Mini

I don't really play games much these days due to workload. But sometimes I play COD or bioshock... nothing too serious (e.g. crisis), mostly Diablo 3. Yes I use a 27" monitor for photo and video editing. I checked out the 660ti, the card length is 9.5inch, which is around 140mm, so it will have arou...

A powerful, quiet display card for mATX with Define Mini?

Hey Guys, My current P180 System is around 4 years old and hardware problems start to pop up from time to time. So I'm planning to replace it with something smaller/better. I will be using a mATX mobo with Fractal Design Define Mini ; from the official website, it states the following: Supports grap...

I have recently purchased a Asus E350 motherboard with SDD and Pico for my Linux based music player. it is 100% silent. sometimes I'm not sure if it is powered on. http://www.ocaholic.ch/xoops/html/modules/xcgal/albums/userpics/E35M1-I%20Deluxe/Pics/normal_002.JPG My intel i7 set up is very quiet to...

Re: Alternatives to silverstone FT02?

Thanks guys! It does look good from the outside. I considered the first prototype as a failure. 1. cable management is a nightmare. 2. The hardware/fan/cpu etc are identical to my previous set up inside my Corsair and P180, but it somehow it is a lot noiser in my DIY case; I believe MDF produces mor...

Alternatives to silverstone FT02?

I have a few set ups at home and at work that includes the following enclosures: 1. Antec P180 2. P182 3. Corsair 700D They have their own pros/cons. And would want to try something new for my next setup - the silverstone FT02. I like the idea of having all the ports located on the top, but i don't ...

Re: is 700D a better case than the P180?

How is the 700D in terms of vibration (specifically hard drive vibration)? I've owned a number of cases from Lian-Li, CoolerMaster, and Antec, and the only cases that I've felt were satisfactory in terms of dealing with hard drive vibration were the Antec Sonata and P18x. I'm really intrigued by th...

Re: is 700D a better case than the P180?

Hey guys, I transferred the system to 700D. The stock fans are acceptable, but no way they are quite compare to the the scythes spinning at 600rpm in my old P180. The side covers are ok, but nota as rigid as the P180's for sure. I sealed the top vents with some acoustic foams, and the noise level fr...

Cool, I shall get the 700D tomorrow then.

I've just look at the measurement, and it is HUGE, a lot bigger than the P180. no wonder it is so spacious inside.

i will decide later if the foams and new fans are necessary in the 700D. thanks again for the suggestions.

Re: is 700D a better case than the P180?

interesting. the 700D is around 150USD in Hong Kong, a lot cheaper than the P183 here.

How to keep the 700D quite than? probably some new fans?

the TJ11 was on my list, until i saw the price tag of 600+USD. damn.

Re: is 700D a better case than the P180?

yep, the 700D case weights @22.3lbs, mainly made of solid steel, while the front plate is aluminum. and thus might be a good case for sound isolation. It seems the Obsidian 700D is a good choice, but not popular in this forum. Are there any problems with it?

I also need to upgrade my P180 to something bigger.

Have you guys considered the Lian Li PC A-71F or the X2000F? but looks like the Nexus Prominent 9 or the EDGE are better alternatives.

Modification for Arctic Cool Accelero TWIN TURBO?

Hey guys, I bought the Twin Turbo (arctic cooling S1/S2 is not available in Hong Kong) for my XFX 9800GTX+. Although it is much quieter than the stock fans, I'm still no satisfy with the result. So I'm wondering: 1. if I should remove the AC fans? 2. Is passive cooling possible for the 9800 GTX+? 3....

I bought the XFX 9800 GTX+ today. I want more space inside the case so I'm planning to go with P182 instead (but it is sold out in the computer mall).

Here are the missing parts:
Antec P182
Scythe S-Flex X 2 (intake and exhaust)
Arctic Cooling S1

Should I over clock the system to ~3.6ghz?

I assume you're going to be running a Hackintosh using the EFI partition scheme. If that's not true, then ignore this. As a general rule, I'd stick with NVidia cards for the time being- the Nvidia Inject kernel extensions are more stable and up to date than the ATI equivalents. Also, you probably w...
