Re: ASUS Maximus VI Impact: Enthusiast Mini-ITX Motherboard

I have the Big Shuriken 2 Rev B on an Asus Mini-ITX P8Z77-I Deluxe with a similar layout and daughterboard. It does interfere but really minimally. Basically I turned it such that the underside fins on the heat sink barely touch the daughterboard in one corner. It is basically like a mililmeter abov...

Re: Fractal Design Node 304 Mini-ITX Case

It is - and the cooling is good enough to handle the full six. That said, you just need to be aware when picking a motherboard, that some Mini-ITX ones have 4 SATA ports only: http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Z87-H87-H81-Q87-Q85-B85-What-is-the-difference-473/ Also space is fairly tight in ...

Way to file a patent for something people have already been doing for a decade. The sad part is that it'll probably get approved despite the obvious proof (SPCR, for example) that this is an old idea. These patents are loosely based on characterization of noise and user interaction, but they are qu...

This looks pretty good. Add a PCI TV-tuner, a nice hardrive and a slimline blu-ray drive and you got a winner. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153124 Please disregard my posts below, but you need three posts on the forum to post links. Went with the Antec 1380 in the end. Would have liked to just go simple and use the Atom 330 dual, since idea is to build a simple server low noise and with 4 2.5" drives, but that Atom seems to be available on on boards with limited number of SATA and no esata. Thans very much for the pointer thoug...

Small quiet case to hold GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H + Shuriken?

If I want to use GigaByte GA-MA78GM-S2H microATX motherboard with AMD 4850e, cooled with a Scythe Shuriken and still have space for 4 2.5" drives, what would be the smallest and best quiet case to use?

I think there are some AMD 780G based mini-ITX solutions around. That would have enough oomph to get the job done and some careful planning should get you a silent system as well.
Anything specific in mind here?

Its interesting you post news about "Denocracy In Iraq", but why didnt he instead work for democracy in Eqypt or Saudi Arabia or any of the gulf nations? That didnt require a war and bombing people? How many tens of thousands of people did the Saudis or Egyptians gas? As for the rest of what you sa...

For this first one, I plan on using it to serve data DLNA/UPNP and run a Squeezecenter, basically instead of buying a Synology 209+. So if that usage pattern means GPU not relevant, that is even better. Mini or Micro is fine with more. More concerned with making sure that is it is quiet unit that ca...

Silent Sytem that can serve HD video?

I am looking for a silent unit that can be run as a NAS with Freenas or Windows Home server, primaryly to serve video files to Popcorn Hour, music to Squeezeboz and display photos- I had been looking at the tranquid T7 units but they seem to be iffy for anything beyond 720P, due to the graphics chip...
