The WD10EADS has 333 megabyte platters, 3 of them. (Or at least they used to...have they changed to a 2-platter design?) If the WD10EARS has 500 megabyte platters dunno who's crazy here. Just to clear out for other people like me that dont thoroughly align with all BS series that some manufacturers...

Now, this behavior is quite odd. Let's see what RivaTuner has to say Surprising indeed. The card is switching from 160/500 to 750/920, which are my intended idle and 3D profiles. The issue is that it is switching about once every second or two. My guess is that 160/500 is too slow to render the des...

Re: Can't Cool a 4830

Hello, I have two of these. Stock cooling, as expected, was too loud, so I ditched it. With stock cooling, the cards idled ~52 and loaded at ~85. Average performance imo. I got two Arctic Cooling S1s to replace the stock cooling. Passive cooling didn't work. 96C in Furmark is worrisome, especially ...

Rumors were that the 40 (45) nm process at TSMC was in a sorry state, meaning lots of leakage. That's why the next generation GPUs from both AMD and nVidia are delayed. I wished this RV740 to draw as much power as the 4670 and have performance close to the 4850, but I doubt it. At release we may fi...

AMD makes its CPUs in its own fabs, whereas the GPUs are all made in TSMC fabs. They come into joint venture with TSMC on the road to establish The Foundry, so the only reason might be cause they still don't have 45nm bulk process (nor intention to develop one) and SOI is too expensive, too complic...
