Running W7 RC x64, and quite often the only time my movies drive spins up is when I open up My Computer and it tries to get a figure on how full the drive is. (Other than watching a movie of course ;))

Assuming only hardcore gamers will buy it and assuming anyone cares about how loud it is while gaming just because you use open headphones! Does Entropy use open headphones? He was reiterating my point - we're not the same person :P Seriously... don't take it so seriously. You said 'only idle noise...

My machine has to be silent (or certainly no more than a faint faint hum) at all times, because I use open headphones.

5850 with an S1 or a Trad^2 is looking mighty good.

oh yeah? what do you study? i'm in engineering =) can't stand the Atom though, but i'm also trying to do a DTX build [if i can find someone to sell me the motherboard i'd like - comes from a HP slimline] Surveying ;) Long as I can get the 9400 onboard to accelerate movies with W7 MC... all good. It is possible to build a mini itx machine that could do both. A dual core atom on an ion board would make a fine htpc. So it would seem...
