@justice99: can you give me your feedback regarding the Fractal Design 1500? I mean, I am interested in all the aspects: fan filters, included fans noise, fan controller functionality, ease of build, etc.
kind regards,

Re: smaller vs bigger case
just yesterday I was actually looking at a Raijintek case. One of the things I was considering is that the MB is on the left side of the case (I keep my pc under my desk, on the left side). the main reason why I abandoned the case was that, due to the inverted atx position, the GPU will get hotter t...

Re: smaller vs bigger case
You are absolutely right Neil. The only thing I would like to add is that the GPU fan blows air from under the GPU, upward. But I think that doesn't change what you said. There was a case a lot of time ago (I think it was from Thermalright, but i'm not 100% sure) that had a duct made of plastic that...

Re: smaller vs bigger case
Thanks all of you for the great input. Olle, I agree with you. I think that if I am able to get as much air over the GPU, as directly as possible, it will be cooler (and thus run more silently). Further more, I think that the extra ceiling fan location may actually aid in getting hot air faster out ...

Re: smaller vs bigger case
At the moment, I have the CM silencio 550 case, with additional Nexus Damptek foam on the ceiling, floor and back panel. I also modded the fan grill for both intake and exhaust (cut them out completely). What I'm trying to find out is if it's worth it to change the case for the smaller one. I don't ...

Re: smaller vs bigger case
the cases that I inquire are cooler master 550 (the one that I already have) and cooler master 352. @ If the smaller case has lower restriction intake and exhaust grills, it could be fine. Answer: both cases have the same kind of intake restriction and the same exhaust. basically the only difference...

smaller vs bigger case
Hello guys, I have a simple question: if i take the exact same components, including the same fans, and move them form a bigger case (cooler master 550) into a smaller case (cooler master 352), how will that affect my temperatures? The components are as fallows :I5 6400, MSI b150 ECO, HyperX Fury Bl...

Re: advice for changing the case
@ CA_Steve: my psu is a Super Flower Golden King Pro 600W PSU, which is a semi passive PSU. Until now, even in the summer, after 4h of gaming, the fan hasn't started to spin. I have a bottom intake for the PSU, but I glued 4 rubber (additional) feet to my case, raising it with about 1 inch (2.5 cm)....

Re: advice for changing the case
Thanks for the input guys. After reading all your replies, i think i'll wait until I buy the new GPU, before going the case-changing-route. @ Olle: the temps are my current temps. If i set up a more aggressive fan curve for the case and/or cpu fans, the temps become: 42 in the case, 48+ for the cpu,...

Re: advice for changing the case
I am planning on buying in the next month a radeon 480 or a GeForce 1060. (I can't afford a 1070  ), but I don't think any of the new cards will make a big difference in the overall temps. Once I even tried a Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme IV as a replacement GPU cooler, and it made almost no d...

Re: advice for changing the case
My card is a Asus Strix AMD R9 280. From experience, I can tell you that raising the rpm on the GPU doesn't bring any real benefit to temperatures. I think it's mainly because the fans on the gpu use the already hot air in the case... I have modded my case in regards to the intakes and exhausts: I'v...

advice for changing the case
Hi, I would like some advice regarding a possible case change. Right now I have the configuration in my signature. All the fans are controlled by the MB: - the two intake Nexus usually spin at 400(idle), 700(load) - the Antec True quiet exhaust spins at 300 (idle), 600 (load) - the scythe stock fan ...

Re: My silent Fractal R5 Workstation / Gaming
how do you control the antec fans? how are they connected to the system?
I have a similar antec fan in my setup (the 120 true quiet model) and right now it's the only thing I can hear late at night.
thanks,

Re: Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
As I said in the first post, I am aware about the strix cards, but those are 25% more expensive.
There are some nvidia msi cards that turn off the fans in idle. I was just wondering if we can add the sapphire card to the list.

Re: Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
I am really happy to hear about idle noise of this card. Because I have the case on my desk, it is really important to me that the pc is inaudible in idle. All my components have been picked and tuned especially for that. I'll go ahead and order the card next week. In case you can confirm that the f...

Re: Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
I'm glad to hear you are pleased with the noise of the card. If indeed the card turns the fans off in idle, that would be amazing. The fact that the cooler is as quiet as a antec solo back fan( I have the exact back fan) is great news, but the rpm ratings worry me. I don't think that a fan spinning ...

Re: Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
That's great news(for me at least). Please let me know how loud it is by spcr standards. All i'm interested in is idle noise(or lack of it to be exact). If you can, try to eliminate all other idle noise sources except the gpu. By the way, what's your system's specs? Also, some temps would be nice. T...

Re: Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
Hello,
No, I haven't got the card yet...I have the same problem : just not sure about the noise.
I think that the discount is available in every store worldwide.
This is exactly why I've started this thread.
I am prepared to wait up until Christmas to get it, so if you have any insight, post it here.

Thanks for the reply, but my budget is stretched to the max as it is. I have rechecked the price and due to a discount, the difference is more like 25% now.

Sapphire Ati radeon R9 280/280x/285
Hello, I have a question for the Sapphire radeon r9 280/280x/285 users: how quiet is the cooler (as far as I know is the same cooler on any of the given cards) in idle with the fan setting set to the lowest value in the CCC? I am aware that asus strix are inaudible in idle, but I am not willing to p...

You are right, but I still have to find out if the sapphire radeon 280 model is quiet\inaudible at idle....I would buy the MSI, I really would, but in my country there is a 15% price difference between the two (sapphire is cheaper). if the sapphire cooler, with the rpm turned as low as catalyst will...

i've read about the new semipassive Asus card here, but it has yet to be available for sale in my country. That is a good bet, but it depends on the pricing... Re: Asus AMD graphics card
Hi, I currently have a Sapphire Radeon 7790. I can honestly say that in idle it is inaudible. Even with the case opened, i cannot hear it. I am looking to change it to a 280x, and i have the same problem as you: i cannot find an inaudible card (in idle). If you are like me, i don't care about gaming...
