I don't understand the logic behind people writing these fans off because they are a "fake" 140mm design. The fan blades ARE larger and longer than many 120mm fans, despite the position of the mounting holes (notice how much closer the mounting holes are to the fan blades?). The problem arises when...

Thank samuelmorris.
I have found an Akasa AK-195BL a 140mm fan which I find no mention of of here. http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/sp ... 195_bl.htm
It has ok specs, no LED, and is made of questionable plastic colour.

Instead of replacing fan, i'd suggest adding a a couple diodes in series with the fan, or resister to lower the fan speed. That fan should be silent enough when run say 200-300rpm lower. Please explain how a diode can lower fan speed. I understand resistor, but a diode just make current go one dire...

Yes, having bought a more suitable case for my Dual 4870X2s, the Coolermaster HAF, I have a rear 140mm fan slot, and the stock coolermaster one is bunk. It's quiet enough, but pushes as much air as an 80mm probably would at a reasonable noise level. Was looking at Aerocool Streamliners (more specif...

Seasonic 430w S12ii
Hi, I would just like to report that I bought a Seasonic 430w S12ii, and that I am very satisfied with its quietness. Mostly bought based of reviews on this site. Thanks.

I think this looks like it might be ok http://www.xigmatek.com/product/accessory-xlf-f1453.php, but it has a crappy LED on it.

Quiet 140mm fan
please recommend me a quiet 140mm fan. I have massive hole in my case for a 140mm fan (Antec 300). Looking around I was unable to find any decent ones at this size. I looked for 140mm Noctua and S-Flex. Would I be better of getting a 140mm to 120mm adapter. http://img2.pict.com/4c/ff/65/72d22e464ec6...

And there are ways, of which I will not speak about because it probably goes against some rules here, but there are ways to not destroy that warranty sticker, so if something goes wrong, remove the swapped fan, plug in the old fan and close up the PSU and no one would know the difference...however ...
