Hmm, sounds like the older SB chips get hotter even though they use less power. Does anyone know how the AMD chips compare? I'm most worried about the SB because it sits right underneath the video card. Older motherboard designs did not utilize heat pipes. Even though on an older motherboard the so...

Sure it will. i5 (1156) is even more "fresh" than i7 (1366) and will likely get to see more efficient and better CPUs in the foreseeable future. No motherboard I know of has FW800 onboard, you're likely going to need an expansion card for that. Notice though that most FW800 cards are PCI-X so it'll ...

I am very familiar with undervolting and such, so for me it's kind of clear which to choose although now I found another issue to think about. ...

Q9550 vs Q9550S
Hi, I can get any of these for the *SAME* price. The difference between them is only that the S version is factory undervolted. This gives it the advantage of putting out less heat, though won't overclock as far as the vanilla version. I am not the overclocking guy, just want a nice cool 'n quiet (p...

Hi, Not even a week with this new Antec and I managed to seriously f it up. I believe it happend while putting in the motherboard and other components, since the side with the spring loaded thumbscrews is perfect. The other side has suffered way too much than I believe I could have done to it. There...

I've had this Elite 330 for 4 years now, and since it serves me so well, all the temptation for a P182 are just hopes and dreams for a budget i don't have. too bad it's only OEM cases that have those removable plates that you can j...

A bit older business oriented Quadros are sold on eBay for very cheap. Something like NVS 285 it has a DMS-59 connector, make sure you get the adapter for it to give you two VGA connectors directly. Makes much easier to configure dual screen setups. If I am not completely mistaken the NVS 285 is som...

Looks can be deceiving, I've actually got a 92mm fan tied onto the fins of the Accelero, i used wire ties, the silly "useless" ties that come with packages of garbage bags. I "threaded" them through the holes on the fins of the Accelero, and then just went through the holes on the fan for mounting....

http://www.kwikpiks.com/files/129/IMG_0826.JPG ^That's the most recent picture of my computer. You can see that with a fan, the Accelero blocks two PCI slots below the card, if you don't have a fan, it will completely block the slot directly underneath the card. While this isn't a huge deal, for so...

Which one would you choose if they had the same price tag? Still the cp 850? I wouldn't. Antec seriously f**ked up the P183, but then again this is how I see the situation. If the Antec is to your liking go with the combo and get the CP-850. With the Seasonic you would have a wide variety of ATX ca...

Re: To upgrade or not to upgrade? (NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT)
It does not matter squat if the monitor is large or small, only the amount of pixels matters when it comes to required GPU power (you got Full HD, that's the relevant info here). Yes it does not, but the purpose here was to hint that I'm using a plasma TV and watch Blu-ray movies, so I was hoping t...

To upgrade or not to upgrade? (NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT)
Hello, I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT (OEM / reference design with 512MB GDDR3) and was wondering whether or not it is worth to throw in the bin or not. It does have 112 stream processors, DirectX 10 / SM 4.0 / OpenGL 3.1, but also it is quite old in design and even if it is a tad bit faster than t...

Nobody is blaming the integrated for anything. I am just Quoting the system requirements/recomendations. Macs are nice, but talk about cost of ownership... You are looking at it from the wrong perspective. Macs require basically zero maintenance. We still have an old Power Mac G5 running in our lab...

In the end however it also boils down to total cost of ownership and definitely a discrete graphic card requires more maintenance than integrated graphics. Sure there can be problems, but hey the same also applies to discrete graphic cards or any other part of your system. Don't blame it on integrat...
