I know what you mean. I had this card for a short while and the heatsink gets hot enough to burn your fingers on. A silent solution is hard. Most people either install a little 40/50/60mm fan on the heatsink or replace the whole with an active Chipset cooler. Those tiny fans are usually anything but...

I received the Nanoxia PWMX today. I haven't had time to properly review it yet. However i did open up the device. It doesn't look very complicated. The soldering doesn't look too good and i am pretty sure that its hand made. I won't be posting the schematics since they made sure the main IC couldn'...

Its 75.4 mm not counting the 25 mm fan coming on top of that

I have the Silverstone case. It will fit a matx mainboard with normal psu and two harddrives. I have paired it with a 500 Watt Silverstone PSU (Short Cable edition) and their NT06 heatsink. The heatsink lines up below the PSU fan. So you don't need an extra fan. http://www.xs4all.nl/~joeribl/images/...

[ Alive NF4G-DVI I have this board, it's great: undervolts down to 0.8V in BIOS, low power consumption, good onboard graphics, DVI + VGA output. One word of warning however: the undervolting options are not available for the AM2 Sempron 2800/3000 (no idea why), so you need to get at least a 3200+. ...

If you can answer those questions i can tell you if the PCI bus will be sufficient ;) If you plan to go for lowpower, AMD Sempron (S754) might be a better choice. However nforce driver support for Linux/BSD is n...

Hello & welocme to SPCR! Do you know if that ATi video is supported in Linux? I would consider something like the Buffalo Technologies TeraServer . The smaller model is relatively quiet, the RAID 5 is default, and it has a pared down version of Linux -- enough for a file server. The XL is an PCI mo...

No garbled graphics.

The post screen is composed of a whole bunch of strange ASCII chars. When it boots windows the windows startup screen is blue with some nice red stripes thru it.

I tried it in a different computer. Same story.

Gigabyte 6600GT Silentpipe Heatsink replacement

Unfortunately my Passive Gigabyte 6600GT died on me yesterday. I guess it overheated. Though my case is properly ventilated. I will be receiving one thru warranty. But i dont want to end up with a dead one in another 6 months. So i was thinking of replacing, the obviously not so efficient heatsink, ...

My Giga 6600GT Silentpipe died suddenly yesterday. I was playing a game and suddenly the whole thing froze with some artifacts.

After the reboot i had a garbled screen. I guess it overheated.

I have a Sharkoon Silvation (which is basically the same case as the TJ-06) with an Asus SLI and an Arctic Freezer64 (fan removed).

That fits perfectly. I cannot tell if the XP120 fits because i have never seen one.

I do have a bit of a problem with the vid card. The heatsink is against the tunnel.

I have looked at the same option. My main concern with your idea, is how bendable these pipes really are. The problem with bending thin-walled pipes is that they tend to collapse or even break. Normally you would fill it with some kind of material (sand for instance) to keep the proper form. Since y...

The THG review "ha ha ha" review is such a strong word for it, quotes the drives of startling transfer rates, mine is no where near that, this could either be that the 200GB model only uses 100GB per platter rather than a short 125GB platter, wheras the 250GB model used 125GB per platter, or it cou...

The AMD64 based processors have a thermal protection in hardware.

The older XP bases processor didn't have such a feature thus requiring such a feature on the mainboard.
