Re: ASUS Z87-Deluxe fake 4-pin headers & other fan control i

First my thanks to the OP. You probably spent way too much time on this :D I knew all of this (non-Asus) specific) fan control stuff apart that NON-PWM fans could be controlled by PWM'ing the 12 voltage line. Let's say that it explains a few things I had been noticing about clicking fans... @Vulcan....

Re: Another crappy Enermax Pro82+

Hi, my first post here, just thought I'd chime in with my noisy enermax Pro82+ 625W. This thing is barely a day old and it's already making an annoying 'whishpery' noise from the fan. It's the loudest thing in my case by far < BIG snip > Whispery noise. Yeah, I had that from day one. The PSU is the...

@Frenchie. I can clearly hear a high pitched sound when I move my head around. I'm probably very susceptible to that noise. When I set my system into standby it dies and I can easily pick it up again when waking up the system. I suspect that the sound you are hearing may be slightly different. It is...

So, with Scythe Quiet Drive SQD-1000 in idle the hdd is still audible? Yes, beyond any doubt: - Tested with no fans running but the PSU-fan (not even the CPU-fan). - Tested with all fans running: Zipang CPU-fan @ 640 RPM, Scythe slipstream 120mm @ 600 RPM. In both cases the HD was clearly audible. ...

All has arrived well and of course I've been busy listening. I'm very very keen on silence and all I say is subjective with no scientific testing at all. I also appear to have good hearing as I had to (almost literally  ) pin people to the case so they could hear what I can hear from 60cm away....

As my hard drive is already on rubber feet, isn't that the same as decoupling?

I've just ordered a Scythe quiet drive and a Scythe Himuru; If anyone is interested I'll do a side by side comparison :D

Hard drive damping (mini-review Quiet drive and Himuru)

Hi guys, I've learned enough via the forums to ask my question; Thanks for all the useful info :D So I've gotten my case pretty quiet except for two things really. - The whispering noise of my Enermax modu82 PSU (fan noise). - A high pitched frequency from my Samsung 1Tb SATA II 32Mb HD103UJ Sounds ...

I second that too. And also solutions which not only decouple but also tackle the inherent HD idle noise. My brand new spinpoint F1 has that nasty high pitched tone. No decoupling will solve that I'm afraid.

Yeah I admit it is pretty faint. When I place my ear parallel to the drive I have to move up and down and at a certain height I can lock onto it. It just stands out because the rest of the system is very silent. Damn us silence junkies :D Don't think the shop will let me RMA it as technically it per...

Getting the last of the noisy quiet: Samsung F1 1TB HD103UJ

Hi Guys, I'm Jeroen (new here :) ) and I have tried my best to assemble a very quiet system: - Enermax modu82+ 525 PSU (does make a slight fan noise though) - Scythe Shuriken cooler @ 9.5V by means of modded power cable - A coupe of Scythe S-Flex 1200 RPM fans @ 550 RPM (motherboard handles the volt...
